I would say Soft Summer

Spring is warm, yellow based. Summer is cool and grey/blue based. Do you look better in bright orange or shocking pink?

madaboutpurple · 17/03/2025 12:40

There is a lot of info on the internet about seasonal colours. I am sure that will be useful to you.

I would say Soft Summer

I think so too, but just not sure. I seem generally redder as I get older

@madaboutpurple I've looked at these things loads and find it really hard to judge as I'm sort of on the cusp of soft summer

@TheLongRider I just can't tell I can see it on others but not myself. I thinknirange is slightly better. If I wear the right sea green I get lots if compliments but if I get it a bit wrong I look awful.

No idea, but I love your eyebrow/s 😊Mine are really sparse and I'd love to have ones like yours! #unhelpful#

I'd say soft summer. And if this is correct, you may well not feel that fantastic in hot pink or bright orange as they aren't soft colours. I'm soft summer and while I like a pop of bright, I wouldn't tend to use it much as I know it's just a bit too much for my colouring.
For spring vs summer, I'd say is a fresh yellow better than say a dusty blue. I tend towards the dustier, more sun bleached colours if that makes sense. Not that I would let any 'rules' stop me from picking whatever colour I fancy!

TheLongRider · 17/03/2025 14:45

The reason why I suggest orange or pink is to get a quick idea of whether you are warm or cool toned. If you are warm toned orange will look fine, whereas a blue toned pink will make the shadows in your face pop out and you'll look like death. If you can wear soft white, blue toned grey, heather and greyed pastels easily you're more likely to be a summer. Think of summer colours with a grey haze through them. Soft Spring will be warm toned with a yellow base, think of a soft sunset.

I have that eye colour, it's hard to tell for me to, I do have a little auben red in my hair, so I could be spring. I was a blonde child which went dark in early teens

UpSkilling · 17/03/2025 18:50

@lindyloo57 mine was more of a golden blonde than a white blonde and then went brown but its not grayish and mousey you sound similar.

My hair and eye colour are not that dissimilar to yours and I'm an Autumn. If you have any hint of warmth, then you're a spring or an autumn. That's why the PP was asking about orange.

lindyloo57 · 17/03/2025 22:10

@UpSkilling my hair was light blonde as was my DS until teens but my DD stayed light blonde until in her 40s its a little darker now, I could never work out my colours, I've had light blonde highlights all my adult life till lockdown, when I started growing them out, and now see at the age of 64 some auburn red in my hair, so I'm either a spring or autumn.

Justkoko · 19/03/2025 08:48

Yes absolutely, often pink vs orange is often suggested to try, like gold or silver. I found that this didnt really help me that much tbh. I am not totally cool toned, got pink in my skin but golden in my hair so generally cool but leaning a bit neutral. Which is why I think I'm likely soft summer as it leans towards autumn. The gold or silver thing, I've had silver and pale gold heels - the bright silver ones look terrible, like all the red comes out but with a pale and soft gold, somehow it suits better. A yellow gold would look off though I think. Pewter is best! So softer versions of either perhaps. As a very general rule, Spring is fresh/zingy brights, Summer is cooler colours and deeper or more sun bleached depending on your tone/hair etc. It's how I read it anyway. I've thought about it too much no doubt.😊

Cool undertones. So more likely a summer than a spring. Have you considered winter?
