Low budget Court dress

Hello, my budget is very low (max £30) but I wondered if anybody could help me find a dress to wear for court?

I always wear dresses but mine are all bright colours/patterns.

I'd like Black or mainly Black, knee length or just above. None, or not much of a V-Neck.

Size 16, A-Line is my usual style.

I'm sooo stressed about this court case.
I HATE shopping normally, & usually get all of my clothes from charity shops/wear them until they dieGrin

I just feel like I don't have the mental head-space to look for something to wear.

There are LOADS on vinted, have you tried there?

SilverMane · 08/03/2025 19:21

No I've actually never been on there, thank you Mulledjuice I'll give it a look.

Have you visited a charity shop ?, that could prove worthwhile for you.

RIPVPROG · 08/03/2025 22:56

I attend court regularly for work and always wear patterned dresses, and bright colours, just put a blazer over the top!

Ineffable23 · 08/03/2025 22:58

Vinted is a good option. Do you have any brands that tend to fit you reliably?

I tend to deal with vinted by picking a brand I like, then running the filters carefully to cut out all the wrong sized stuff, anything below "very good" in quality, anything too expensive etc.

The first time I used it I found it overwhelming but now I've learnt how to search like that I find it much more manageable.

Sorry I actually re-read your post and noticed you go to charity shops. Also eBay can be worth a look. Matalan sell dresses at good prices.

SilverMane · 08/03/2025 23:11

Thank you for the responses. Yes Vinted seems a bit all over the place but I expect that I will get the hang of it.

I have a lot of Peacocks, Matalan & TU.

It probably sounds silly but I don't want to wear my usual clothes. This dress will likely only be worn for court & then I'll give it to charity (if it's a bad outcome which it's expected to be) I don't want it sat in my wardrobe afterwards.

The Phase Eight dress is nice but I don't like a belt/belt loops round the middle.

Sorry I missed the 'Next' one.

I need sleeves, don't have to be full length but some sort of sleeve.

I wore this when I was witness in court recently, flattering and the collar makes it look smart.

Ignore this isn't the right dress, I'll try again.

SilverMane · 08/03/2025 23:24

Thank you StCatsDay & TheGirlsttheBack But those are both too long. I'm really funny about anything bring longer than knee length!

I will have a look on Finery London, I havn't heard of them.
