everything I like is white?

Loving this. If only it came in a colour or a print.

That is one heck of a deep neck line!

looks like a beach dress to me

What's the material? Our local alterations lady does colour changes as well, she has a fab selection of dye!

It's linen. It's quite expensive so I'd be nervous about that, particularly as it has embroidery on it. I'm just going to have to find something non-white!

That is SO nice! Not for a wedding, obviously, but gorgeous!

May I ask where it's from, please?

At £1200 I don't think anyone wants to try dyeing it!

Given that there are plenty of other dresses, even on that one site, that would be perfectly fine to wear as a wedding guest, I’m not quite sure what the purpose of your thread is?

Maybe it would have been better to start a thread suggesting the white dress as a lovely choice for a beach wedding?

A ripped nighty or costume from Game of Thrones

For £1200, you can do better I think.

Given that this was lighthearted, and given that I don't like any of the other dresses, even on that one site, the purpose of my thread was that I felt like starting it, because whenever I'm looking for a wedding guest dress I seem to end up finding white ones that I like.

Is it really your job to tell others what thread they would have been better starting? Maybe it would have been better going to a thread suggesting something helpful?

I'll be sure and check that it meets your acceptability criteria before posting next time.

It's cheaper here

Dorothy Schumacher

Get one made. I did. It was an ivory sheath with an embroidered olive green tulle coat. Totally unique. It cost about £1400 (was some time ago but also much more dressy and complicated than I think you are looking for).

crumblingschools · 09/03/2025 01:46

That’s a lot of money for not much. Looks like something you wear over a bikini

Edited

Thanks for the link. I've ordered it.

Now just need to find something wedding suitable!

@mondaytosunday Did you like it when it was finished? I'm always nervous about that because the few times I've tried I haven't been happy with the result. Did the tulle come already embroidered or did the dressmaker do the embroidery?
