You're going out for afternoon/evening drinks - what are you wearing?

DH and I are going out into town later (5ish) and whilst not a rare occurrence, I'm pondering what to wear.

I love wide trousers, body, blazer but DH really isn't a fan of the wide trousers. Yes, I do dress for me and not him but we always want to look nice for each other which is a shame if the trousers aren't a hit!

What do you wear for drinks in town and do you always like what your OH goes out in? 😄

Hmm, depends on the place. I’m a dress fan, so probably a shortish dress with heeled boots. Or a maxi with flats or chunky boots.
My OH is a casual dresser generally - combats and tee shirts mainly, and yes it suits him. If I really didn’t like something he wouldn’t wear it, same for me, as it’s nice to wear things your partner likes. Generally though we don’t comment on each others clothes.

I have almost no intention of dragging myself out this evening - but if I had to it would probably be in a long sleeveless sweater dress and knee high boots, with a big cable knit cardigan slung across my shoulders. Could do with improvement, to be honest …

Jeans, flowery blouse and new cotton jacket, lace up pumps. For once, the colours seem to go together 😆

Going out at 5 here to meet DH after the match. I'll be in dress boots and coat, he'll be in warm clothes!!

Think I'm doing grey barrel legs and a dark wash denim shirt tonight. We're in London and the sun is shining so I might brave brown suede marry janes.

I've also just had a chocolate silk slip dress with a black lace trim delivered. That's an option, with a sage corduroy shirt as a jacket and cowboy boots.

How wide is wide? As there are plenty of more relaxed jean shapes around that arent wide, eg boyfriend, girlfriend, relaxed, slim, straight. Some of the wide/long/baggy/Palazzo ones are getting really extreme.

I'm going to swerve the first question as I struggle to stay awake beyond 8pm at the moment. But on the second point, hell no! We can both be quite brutal about each other's choices although we don't go as far as vetoing anything.

Provided he reciprocates, I think it can be fun sometimes to choose an outfit you know he's going to like. What does 'looking nice for each other' mean to you both?

Something like a jersey dress, tights and flat soled boots for me.

I like how DH dresses generally - he usually has a smart pair of jeans that he'll wear with a floral shirt for something like drinks.

I'm on the One Hundred Stars train and the Rachel dress style which is forgiving if you're large of middle (as I am). You can belt if if you have some semblance of a waist.

Perhaps not great for an imminent date, but so versatile for brunch/work/drinks/dinner date.

We went out last weekend for a few drinks, I wore a black fitted shortish skirt, tights but not thick ones, flat boots, and a kind of black sparkly mesh/ net top vith a cami underneath. A black short velvet jacket for warmth. I was dressed in an outfit my other half would prefer, not what I would wear out with friends.

Well all these outfits sounds great and I bet we all look fabulous when we go out!

We've just come in from shopping and for the first time in a long time, ice had to tell DH that the jeans he's just bought aren't my favourite. They're OK but not what he looks best in. He wanted my opinion but I do feel a bit bad as the new 'going out' jeans have been relegated to the 'daytime' before the first wear 😬

I’m going out tonight for drinks at a wine bar then on to a restaurant (not a posh one!). I’m wearing my bootcut jeans, a smart fitted jersey top, and my black suede ankle boots - with a bit of a heel to give me some height!

Wide dark wash high waist jeans with a thin belt. Sleeveless cami or tight sleeveless high neck vest, Chanel style navy jacket, trainers

Whichever dress from vast collection took my fancy and flat lace up ankle boots or ballet flats- jacket or coat, weather dependant. I wouldn't pay any attention as to whether my husband didn't like what I was wearing- not sure if he'd comment.

I like all his clothes. He never wears jeans or trainers. I don't know if I would say anything if he started wearing them, but we both dislike them, so hopefully theoretical.

I'd wear either wide legged jeans, heeled boots and a pussy bow blouse or boots, tights and a wrap dress.
Oh, and a really confused expression coz I literally never go out for drinks!
