Advice please on what to do with necklace

I have a beautiful necklace which has sentimental value and is also a lovely piece of jewellery even without the sentiment attached to it. But it is very, very fine / thin and I'm terrified of wearing it in case I break it! I can't sell it as it was given to me and has sentimental value.

I was thinking of maybe getting it made into something else, but I'm worried that would ruin it and / or be very expensive to have done well?

Other option would be get an extender for it so that it isn't so high up on my neck and maybe not as likely to break that way?

Or should I just wear it and stop being a jewellery wuss?

Can the main part of the necklace be put onto a different chain so it’s more wearable?
Hard to say what to do with it without knowing what it looks like really.

Put it in a frame and hang it on the wall?

Can't you just buy another thicker chain for the pendant?

The one in the photo doesn't look as if it would break that easily. Just get it worn, OP. (This is a variation of the "saving things for best" threads we have every so often. They are always so sad.)

That's rather lovely.

I'd be wearing it, but would consider the pendant the important bit - so would happily add an extender to the chain, swap it for a more robust version, or replace it if it did get broken.

Thank you all - good point from a pp re just replacing the chain if needed.

I think I'll try to wear it a bit more.

Swap it for a thicker chain but just saying I have necklaces with very fine chains. I have only broken them at home taking them off and being too impatient.
