would you think this were inappropriate (minus the flip flops)?

It's lovely, but more holiday vibe rather than a more formal occasion.

FunnysInLaJardin · 07/03/2025 10:36

Not inappropriate, I think its great!

Mareleine · 07/03/2025 10:37

I'd love to see it at a Christening, it's so fun and kiddie-friendly. I'm not sure it would work for the tone of a wedding.

Fagli · 07/03/2025 10:37

I think it’s fine. Christenings see to be quite casual these days anyway. It looks like normal holiday/sundress, I don’t think people will be bothered about it or even notice!

TheBossOfMe · 07/03/2025 10:38

It's a holiday dress to be thrown on over a bikini for lunch, IMO.

HoppingPavlova · 07/03/2025 10:39

I’d assume you popped by on your way to a holiday.

Star81 · 07/03/2025 10:39

I don’t think it’s appropriate, more holiday beach wear ?

plus where the archways are located is a bit front entrance/ back entrance which wouldn’t be appropriate for a church !

rockingbird · 07/03/2025 10:41

A wedding/christening on a beach - yep!

Missionimprobable · 07/03/2025 10:41

I'd think it was absolutely lovely and go online to order myself one, but once I'd looked at the price, I'd think you had more money than sense 😂
It really is lovely though

FatLarrysBanned · 07/03/2025 10:41

If you are 5ft11 and a size 4 like the model perhaps you could pull it off, but honestly, yes I would do a double take if I saw that on a mere mortal at a formal occasion. Probably just to admire your audacity.

WinWhenTheyreSinging · 07/03/2025 10:41

I think with the right accessories, this would look very elegant actually. Don't really get the beach vibe, it would be obviously a very expensive dress.

Neveranynamesleft · 07/03/2025 10:42

Each to their own, wear it if you want to but personally I think it's more of a summer beach type dress. Would certainly be a conversation starter.

CoffeeWithHer · 07/03/2025 10:43

I love it!!
Christening without hesitation and think it would depend on the type of wedding.

Ultimately wear what makes you feel amazing - life’s too short 🩷

TerrorAustralis · 07/03/2025 10:44

It’s a bit casual, but could probably be styled to be more formal. I think there are other Alemais dresses that would be more suitable.

Bogofftosomewherehot · 07/03/2025 10:49

no - too casual.

TakeMyLifeAndLetItBe · 07/03/2025 10:51

I don't see a problem with it, it's elegant and much better than wearing a skimpy dress in church.

Olika · 07/03/2025 10:52

I think it's more suitable for a holiday.

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 07/03/2025 10:55

People are so weird about “wedding attire” on here. Nearly every thread regarding what to wear to a wedding has poster upon poster declaring the chosen garment “not formal enough”. I wonder if they’ve actually been to a wedding in the last 30 years.

IhadaStripeyDeckchair · 07/03/2025 10:55

Well the model is wearing flip flops because it's a beach outfit.
Definite no for a wedding.
Cautious maybe for a christening

MrsMoastyToasty · 07/03/2025 10:55

I really dislike it.

MrsSkylerWhite · 07/03/2025 10:57

That’s great. Would probably have me humming Under the Sea 😁

CutiePieMiMo90 · 07/03/2025 10:57

Initially I thought "No that's lovely" then she started walking around and it gave off too much of a beach vibe. So final answer is no, it's not appropriate for christening or wedding

FadedRed · 07/03/2025 10:58

Six hundred and fifty quid for a beach robe! You must be joking….

Ladamesansmerci · 07/03/2025 10:59

I love it! I really couldn't care less what someone wears to a wedding etc unless it's another wedding dress 🤣

WereTalkingAboutHumanLivesJim · 07/03/2025 10:59

I would wonder why you had worn a beach cover up instead of a dress tbh. And I am generally not very judgmental or even observant about other people’s clothes.
