I am after some recommendations for the best skin care products ! At the moment I use a face wipe and some micellar water to take my make up off!
I see so many adverts for Retinol, Peptides, Acids - I dont really have lines yet, maybe a few one my forehead, and my under eyes are tired but i want to start with a good routine before it gets too far gone!

Keep it simple and effective is my advice! At 60, as an occasional model, this has been my routine for many years and my skin is very good. Consistency really is everything with skincare.
Morning;

  1. Gentle cleanse (eg ‘Squalane Cleanser’ from The Ordinary). Inexpensive and suits all skin types. Unscented.
  2. Moisturise (eg ‘Hyaluronic Acid serum (always apply to slightly damp skin) + ‘Moisturising Factors’ from above company). Something richer if your skin tends to be on the dry side.
  3. SPF30 minimum - every day, all year around to protect from future photo and environmental damage. Heliocare do a great range, but there are many decent brands. I wear Trinny London BFF cream which is very lightweight, slightly tinted and has SPF30.

Follow with any additional make up.

Evening;

  1. Cleanse (as morning)
  2. Forget over the counter products. Apply a custom formula with performance ingredients prescribed for you by skin experts. I get mine from Monderma, who are excellent, and deliver to your home address on a monthly basis, changing your prescription as you go along. Dermatica do something similar but I haven’t used them.

The thing with good skincare is that much of it is preventative. If you start being consistent now (you in your 40s, but the younger the better), your older self will reap all the benefits! Add a good, colourful diet, fresh air, decent sleep and hydration and as little stress as possible.

If you had to choose one product it would most likely be tretinoin. Monderma is decent.

Ah thank you! I will have a look into that!

Yes, definitely start with as simple a regime as you can but not bloody face wipes!!!

A decent cleanser, moisturiser and SPF cream/lotion then once you are happy with it THEN you can look at other stuff (Vitamin C serum , Tret et al.
