What jacket to wear with wide legged jeans?

Okay, so humour an oldie! The skinnies have been retired and I’ve bought a couple of pairs of wide legged jeans which I’ll wear with trainers/flats but please help me to find a jacket. I want something warm so not a cropped trench which would be lovely for summer but not for now. My go-to is a puffer of some sort but mine are all too long and just don’t go with the jeans. Am going round in circles opening and closing different websites but no idea what to look for! Any suggestions will be much appreciated!
