Outfit for 40th birthday party

Hi,

Could you help me please?

I'm turning 40 in a few months and will be having a party. I would like to look attractive and not frumpy and need some inspiration.

I'm 5'6 and size 12 (I'm hoping to lose weight but can't count on it) and I'm slightly pear shaped and have a spare tyre around my middle.

I don't look good in very tailored or structured clothes but equally look terrible in ruffles. I hate tight clothes - especially around waist and hips.

Does anyone have any suggestions for where I could look?

Maybe here? This could be fabulous - but look at the rest of the site, too:

PH5 jumpsuit

(I don’t even like jumpsuits but this is proper party wear.)

Wow that jumpsuit is something else..

What do you want to wear - a dress or do tot feel more comfortable in trousers? Skirt ?

I find a dress is flattering if you carry weight around your middle, more so than separates.

What colours do you like?

Or a dress? Long:

Or short?

Alemais 2

That jumpsuit is fab! I don't think I can wear anything backless but I do like how loose it is.

The dresses aren't quite my style.

My colouring is cool winter so I look best in jewel tones. I have a very short torso so skirts look quite matronly on me usually.

Jump suit is beautiful, you could wear a waist fastening bra with it. I don't like Huw they have styled it with the shoes, I would probably go with a hidden shoe or trainer but it is smashing.

I like dresses and jumpsuits but will wear trousers if the style is right.

I prefer block colours rather than prints.
