Is this ok for an engagement party? What shoes?

We have my SIL surprise engagement party coming up in April and as we've now had the official invite I am obviously looking for an outfit already!

Do you think this dress would be ok? It's at a fairly posh stately home when I've googled the venue so dressy I would have thought. I will be 6 months pregnant.

Also what shoes, a silver or gold? Or maybe a brighter colour for the (hopefully) spring weather? I was thinking a low to mid block heel sandal. And I'll take flats with me too for when I inevitably need to change into something comfier

The dress itself is nice and appropriate but I'd look for another and brighter colour!

Stately homes can be a bit cold, and that dress though very pretty doesn't look warm!

The bride to be won’t be wearing a bridal dress anyway, even if it were bridal looking, which it isn’t imo. There is no particular dress etiquette for an engagement party, it’s just a party.

I will also need to get a bag. I haven't got any that would be suitable I don't think

That's a good point! It's so hard to judge what the weather might be like! Maybe longer sleeves would be a safer bet
