Foundation testers - is this a weird idea?

I need some new foundation and I'd like to try the Maybelline skin tint. It's 'only' £14 a bottle, but if it doesn't suit my skin that's £14 wasted. I'm not worried about the shade, as I think I've found my match, but a few drops on the back of my hand tell me nothing about how it will look or wear on my face.

Would it be weird to take a tiny 10ml jar to Superdrug and ask for a small squirt so I can test it properly? I've had tiny pots to try from brands like Clinique and Clarins, but obviously they're a bit higher end.

Otherwise, any ideas on how not to potentially waste £14?

@LittleSF I've seen the Catrice brand on Amazon and often wondered what it's like, so thanks for the recommendation

It's my favourite foundation at the moment. Wet n Wild is another brand that's great for foundation and really well priced too.

I recommend Catrice and Wet n Wild over all my high end foundations

Larger Boots stores are usually pretty good with giving testers. They might have some or at least could give you a couple of squirts from a fresh bottle. The cupboards/drawers under the make up stands are full of stuff.

I've taken little pots and asked if I can have a sample and the staff have been fine with it. I totally agree that you need to try a foundation for a day or two to see how it works on your skin.

My friend didn’t get on with an eyeshadow and she was able to get a refund at Superdrug. Actually, she is always returning make up items ( in many places ) and always gets her money back!
I think u just have to stand your ground, which l appreciate isn’t easy at all :)
