Outfit help for meet and greet concert please!

Hey, I'm going to a concert soon where we have a meet and greet with the artist.

I'm a mum of 3, (5, 2 and 6 months) and this is my first night out in a long time.

I'm looking for some outfit inspiration please!

I'm 5ft, size 14 with what I would describe as 'English rose' complexion. I want something that isn't too dressy but also looks like I've made an effort 🤣 I've got a bit of 'mum tum' still so nothing that draws obvious attention to that area haha

I usually buy from the petite section from next / m&S etc

I think what I'm saying is I don't want to look too 'mumsy' even though that's I am 😂

I really like this dress, these women look sexy whereas I think I'd perhaps just look like a curtain and also be cold haha

Thanks for any help!

Depends on the band. I wore leather trousers and a T-shirt from one of the guy’s side bands, but it was a rock band

Sorry I should have added it's Gabrielle - not everyone's taste I know but I enjoy her music 😀

Hi, the dress is lovely but on the model, it appears very fitted over the tummy area before it flares out, so might not be the best if you don’t want to draw attention there?

Britpopbaby · 25/02/2025 14:40

personally @Isurprisemyself I don’t think the prices that label charge are worth the money in terms of quality. How about this as an alternative I found this at John Lewis & Partners. What do you think? www.johnlewis.com/nobodys-child-ottilie-pure-organic-cotton-denim-mini-dress-denim/p112959727?tmad=c&tmcampid=7&s_share=jlappios_Y29tLmFwcGxlLlVJS2l0LmFjdGl2aXR5Lk1lc3NhZ2U=

I’d wear trousers and a nice top for the photos.

Yeh I thought so too, I always seem to choose things that Are no good for my problem area!

I like that, I'd been looking at the denim dress but I think perhaps too fitted?

Do you think boots & tights with the John Lewis dress?

I have none I like, I struggle tucking a nice top due the tummy area on show. So then I tend to look like going to the office haha

@Isurprisemyself I think boots and tights would work. You can get fashion tights from Primark to dress it up a bit on the cheap.

That's a good suggestion - dressy enough to be dressed up for the event, but equally wearable as a nice every day dress.

Preciousssssss · 26/02/2025 07:51

There’s plenty of decent advice here already. But honestly (and I’m speaking as someone obsessed with clothes) those meet and greet events are generally pretty disappointing. They sound exciting and personal but they’re really not. So unless you’re wearing something extraordinary and outlandish your outfit won’t affect the momentary, impersonal interaction you have with the artist.

Essentially, dress for the concert environment, not the add on bit.

NewYearNewDietAgain · 26/02/2025 08:00

Love that John Lewis denim dress! I'd wear that with pattered tights and ankle boots. Heel height would depend on if there was seating or not.

Happyearlyretirement · 26/02/2025 10:58

Love the green dress, do not like the JL one at all. Get yourself some shape wear order the green dress and if it doesn’t work just send it back. Shape wear is amazing these days.

Agreed. Don't want to put a dampner on it but this is correct.

SwoozieSuuu · 27/02/2025 13:05

I agree with @Preciousssssss - you will be in and out in no time so although I’m sure you want to look nice for the photos, I wouldn’t splash out for something special - as PPs have said, dress for the concert, which depending where it is, will either be too draughty or too warm!! On the plus side at the last Gabrielle meet and greet we did get some nice candles in the gift bag!

Isurprisemyself · 27/02/2025 16:55

Thank you for everyone's help / advice. To be honest even if it wasn't meet and greet I just want to look good / feel nice about myself, I just don't really have anything in my wardrobe I'm happy with! x

Aw how did you find the meet and greet? I've had no timings yet, need to arrange childcare etc! Thanks for the honesty! x

To the contrary about meet and greets being over in a flash...we did a M&G with Haircut 100 last year, DH ended up talking to Nick Hayward about classic cars somehow, whilst I just stood there grinning and gurning like an idiot with the rest of the band. 'Management' were getting twitchy, kept looking at their watches and eventually told the band they should press on and we were swiftly ushered out 😄

I wore a black jersey dress - a very similar style and shape to the one recommended on this post. I wore black tights and black patent DMs with it, and whilst having the photos taken, the drummer said "Love yer boots"! So yes, tights and some chunky boots would look great with the denim dress.

Edited because I forgot what I came here for...to talk about the outfit, doh!

TwinklyNight · 28/02/2025 02:59

I usually wear black trousars and top, with a jacket overtop. The jackets are usually a raspberry bomber style one or a black one tunic length that is trimmed with faux leather.. With the black one outfit I wear a sparkly turquoise scarf and earrings.
I haven't been to a meet and greet but my dh and dc have any times, and they wear jeans and t-shirts.
Edit to add that I have maxi dresses I wear in hot weather.

TwinklyNight · 28/02/2025 03:08

*many not any.

SwoozieSuuu · 28/02/2025 12:42

@Isurprisemyself I’ll be honest, I didn’t go to Gabrielle- I’m really not keen on meet and greets but my husband loves them!! Met Jason Donovan last week, he was lovely but a bit bemused when hubby had his picture taken with him, not me 🤣 They are usually an an hour or two before the start of the concert, so you’ll have time to go for a meal, or drink at least, in between.
