can i just bung a permanent colour on top of it?

Depends on the colour of your highlights, if you have tinted highlights then in theory yes you should be ok putting a permanent colour on top. If you have bleached highlights/high-lift highlights you will need to put a base colour on first, semi permanent will do otherwise the colour may not grip onto the highlights and you will end up with a patchy look ala britney spears. Also without a base colour on top of bleach/high-lift highlights the colour will fade very quickly.

they will colour after a couple of go's i was constantly dying over my bleached hightlights but colour doesnt stick to bleach very well so you will have to keep redoing it more often

i would buy two packs of permanant in the colour you want the first go will look a but crap and funny coloured but the second go will sort it out thats what i used to do

The semi permanent base option will negate the need to buy 2 packs or permanent colour, but will have the same effect

1 x semi permanent 1 x permanent colour = more cost effective too

ok so i'll start with a semi permanent one then. yes they're bleach, in the sun your realise how crispy they get, i want it back to normal again, it was so much stronger.
