Lipbalm to stop me picking my lips!

Petra42 · 19/02/2025 08:25

I have a silly habit of biting my lip and its actually damaged my lip line now so I'm trying to stop. At present my lip feels dry and I'm so tempted to bite the dead skin off but then I'm back to square one. Any tips!

Carmex. But the stick rather than the pot. The texture is slightly different. Rub your lips with a slightly damp towel to remove any loose flakes before applying. It really helps to keep them smooth.

I haven’t had success with anything except lanolin.

Santasbigredbobblehat · 19/02/2025 08:43

Lanolin

Manchesterbythesea · 19/02/2025 08:44

i have a pot of Blistex Med Plus. Little blue & white pot. Best lip balm I’ve used. DD16 who has the driest lips in the world discovered it and then I bought one. It’s only about €4.

Cluckycluck · 19/02/2025 08:46

I used lanolin for years and then found it just stopped working for me.

I now use O'Keefes. The pot version overnight and stick version throughout the day.

Moo goo I’ve tried so many and they all seem to irritate/ stop working. I think I’m mildly allergic to something generic but not in this. It’s essentially emulsified almond oil with a bit of spf. I also bought a bottle of almond oil. It was a quid from the chemist, exfoliate lips with a damp facecloth and then a drop or two of oil stops them drying overnight.

Spf balm during the day.

caffelattetogo · 19/02/2025 08:58

Nipple cream - is it called Lanisoh?

LaMarschallin · 19/02/2025 09:05

I use Lush Lip Scrub twice a day to exfoliate and Elizabeth Arden 8 hour Cream overnight. During the day I apply Burt's Bees lip balm whenever I think about it (I've got tubes all over the house and in every bag). That just about keeps my lips moisturised enough not to have flakey bits to bite off.
However, I've given a present of Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask to a family member who gets very dry lips and they've fed back that it's the best thing they've tried.

Itsforthebest · 19/02/2025 09:20

I've tried a lot of lip balms and, in my opinion, Nuxe (in a pot) is the best.

Baital · 19/02/2025 09:23

Vaseline. Cheap but effective.

picturethispatsy · 19/02/2025 09:24

Kielhs Lip Butter mask is the only thing that works for me. It’s pricey but good.

JustLikeThatBluebird · 19/02/2025 09:43

I agree that vaseline is the best for this. A nice thick lip oil also works well during the day, I currently have Dior and Clarins but I don't think the brand really matters.

It's great but not as good as the little tubes that seem to have disappeared off the market.

WrinklesShminkles · 19/02/2025 10:36

E45 balm in a flat white tube is brilliant.

Iheartmysmart · 19/02/2025 10:40

Still searching for something that works here. I currently have Nuxe, Lanolips, O’Keefes, Elizabeth Arden, Blistex, Eucerin and Vaseline on the go and my lips are still painfully dry.

Hyperion100 · 19/02/2025 10:47

I've found this to be excellent

Lanolin. The only thing that works without having to reapply constantly.

My lips took months to recover after La Neige! Never again. It contains exfoliating ingredients so actually dries your lips out more in the long term.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 19/02/2025 11:08

Blistex Intensive Moisturiser. It actually moisturises rather than sit in a waxy layer on top of the skin.

ChilledProsecco · 19/02/2025 11:13

Another vote for Elizabeth Arden 8 hour lip / I wear it at night too & that seems to be the key.

I’ve seen the advert for this, will give it a go, I too am a sod for picking my lips 👍

TheBossOfMe · 19/02/2025 11:25

Vaseline. And brush your toothbrush over your lips at the end of toothbrushing - quick and zero cost way of exfoliating them so you don't have dead skin to pick at.

MonkeyTennis34 · 19/02/2025 11:37

I use either Vaseline in a pot or La Neige over night balm.
La Neige gives my lips a lovely gloss so I use it in the day too.

Calyx72 · 19/02/2025 11:46

Laneige worked for me. My lips are normal now. I use it every night before sleep.

RobbingBanks · 19/02/2025 17:29

Another vote for Vaseline.

Or Aquaphor.
