Good quality petite wedding guest dress for April

Okay, not strictly a wedding, but an occasion at Windsor Castle for that time of the year.

I've looked at Hobbes but I'm disappointed that for the price, pretty much all the things I like are polyester.

I'm mid 40s, size 8/10 and 5'2", so getting a dress past the knees that looks in proportion is a challenge.

Where do fellow SAs go for wedding/occasion attire please?

Thanks.

Have a look at Wallis petite occasion wear. I’m 5’1 and they fit me well.

Woodythewonderpony · 18/02/2025 13:11

Ro and Zo have a good petite section and Karen Millen, L K Bennett also do petites. I have bought a couple of dresses from Zalando too, think they do Ralph Lauren petites. Getting something that’s not polyester might be the hard part through……

The Fold London has some silk dresses, very nice quality.

I’m guessing you only want responses from posters who know what ‘SA’ means in this context, @xsquared ? Grin

I follow The Petite Lady on Instagram. She has had some great suggestions for petite wedding guest / party dresses.

I bought this in petite from Hobbs recently, and it is beautifully made, though (recycled) polyester

Hobbs Quin

Ro & Zo as another poster mentioned, also Never Fully Dressed, Coast and Whistles petite.

Go to Next website, search for Women Dress Petite. This brings up hundreds and hundreds of options. Then sort by Price Descending. Scroll down to where you are comfortable. Lots of polyester there but at price points you may be happy to pay. DD here is petite too and I found her something lovely for a wedding there from Lipsy for a very good price. I won't link anything as I use the Irish website.

QVC is another site that carries some petite sizes, some familiar brands and some less so. Most of them have video so you can see how they might look on a less high fashion body type

I'm eyeing up some Rixo dresses for a wedding I'm going to - they do quite a few styles in petite. I'm same height and size as you.

IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle · 18/02/2025 18:14

I'm 5' 2" possibly 3" and I've never had a problem finding dresses. I don't buy petite- petite in Hobbs always looks skimpy- no matter what size I was.

I don't specifically look for occasion wear but there's enough things in my wardrobe that I could attend most events at no notice. I don't like Hobbs, Phase 8, Reiss etc. "occasion wear"

If you want to avoid polyester have a look at Palava- all dresses are cotton, linen or tencel and all just under £200. Some are more dressed up than others but they might not be "occasiony" enough if you were looking at Hobbs.

I don't have enough things in my wardrobe to attend any event, especially one at Windsor Castle, at no notice.

Anyway, I shall check out Palava. Thank you.

Thank you, all.

I shall have a look at all your suggestions, and I'll go to the city this weekend to see whether there is anything in the shops!

I find The Fold sizing suits taller thin women. Not good for petite.

Marks and Spencer is a good site because it aggregates many brands:

@xsquared Just thought of Wyse too - in fact I’ve dug out a dress from there I’ve had for years and am going to wear it to my wedding - v flattering on a petite hourglass
