What do you class as “older person”?

IsThisOkorWhat · 17/02/2025 21:38

Well any age you feel is older or perhaps past your prime of physical looks ?

StormingNorman · 17/02/2025 21:40

Yes, although it takes more time, effort and money.

Emotionalsupporthamster · 17/02/2025 21:41

I struggle to imagine why anyone with eyes wouldn’t think you can look great as an older woman. I see fabulous looking older women every day.

BunsenBurnerBaby · 17/02/2025 21:41

Of course. Dame Judi Dench is gorgeous. Have a big girl crush on Jamie Lee Curtis.

AcquadiP · 17/02/2025 21:41

Well, Helen Mirren is 79 and she's still good looking even with wrinkles.

RosesAndHellebores · 17/02/2025 21:42

My mother is. She's 88! She still rocks a nicely fitted classic but modern dress, little fitted blazer, dainty one inch heels and has her hair well cut and styled. She could easily pass for a well kept 75 year old. All on a good diet and a bit of moisturiser.

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 17/02/2025 21:43

What a batshit thread. Of COURSE an older person can be good looking.

Why would they not be @IsThisOkorWhat ??? Confused

tomatoot · 17/02/2025 21:46

I felt like I had lost it in my mid 40's, my hair, skin and face were good but I'd let myself go a bit otherwise. I got back to the gym, started weight training, my diet was good but not perfect so I cleaned it up and I lost that excess weight I feel a lot better and I notice that men check me out again and even sometimes try and chat me up. I'm happily married but its nice to be found attractive.

Just today some lad (mid 20's) knocked my door to try and sell me double glazing, he managed to make me laugh but I wasn't interested in new windows. Then about an hour later he knocked my door again to ask if I'd go out with him. Lol, I said no but it was nice to get the offer. I'm 48.

Eyesopenwideawake · 17/02/2025 21:50

Helen Mirren, Demi Moore and Jamie Lee Curtis. Oh, and Judi Dench.

Of course, their skin and fat hangs a bit better on their bones than most of us but gives us something to aspire to.

Yes they all do look fabulous, I agree

Also, me. I’m 53 and never felt or looked better. I do take better care of myself now though (diet, exercise) and it shows. I am healthier and more energetic than many of my younger colleagues (to be fair they are doing sleepless nights with young ones and I am through all that).

I think I need to have a glow up as the youth would say !

You have eyes. You have seen women of all ages who look fantastic. What even is this question?

Queenofthejabs · 17/02/2025 21:55

No op. We are all ugly.

Confused

You, possibly. Lots of people do no such thing.

If you’re asking if people in their 40’s can still look good, then you’re clearly trolling.

IsThisOkorWhat · 17/02/2025 21:59

Guess you do need to put more effort in as you get older

I never moisturise my body as really I can’t be arsed
but even my body skin is showing signs of again now
I did get some palmers body oil today
also need to moisturize my feet too
perhaps to start on the pre summer shit now

IsThisOkorWhat · 17/02/2025 22:00

you know when people talk of others and say oh she’s let herself go
i think that could end up being me if I don’t make the effort

Boringly it was just logging my calories and maintaining a slight deficit each week till I lost about 25lbs. I also started weight training so gained muscle and a better shape and muscle burns more calories than fat! I just ate my normal wholefood diet and watched my portion sizes and cut out any crap that had sneaked in pre-packaged snacks and the like.

IsThisOkorWhat · 17/02/2025 22:08

How did you know how many calories you should need ?
I accidentally ate 400 calories of marshmallows today without thinking

I do need a shake up

One of the most stunning women I’ve ever met must have been in her late 60s or early 70s. She had the most beautiful bone structure, a very short white cropped hairstyle, and wore red lipstick and black framed glasses. Quite tall and a very bold sense of fashion. Her confidence just oozed out of her which made her all the more attractive.

I think mid 40s is the stage where your lifestyle starts to show.

howsthehair · 17/02/2025 22:13

My mum does nothing, no pampering, no skin care. She's nearly 70 and she's hot.
