Concealer for mature skin

I'm 47 and feel that my concealer is no longer doing me any favours. I've been using Lancome long lasting softening concealer for years...but I was using a magnifying mirror last night and was kind of horrified at how it settled into my fine lines.

Just wondering what other late 40s women use?

Benefit Boi-ing cakeless concealer is brilliant. I've been using it since I was in my late fifties - now late sixties.

Thank you- I'll have a look!

Nars soft matte concealer in a pot. Apply with a brush and then dab dab dab with a blender sponge. Set with talcum powder or talc free powder using another blender sponge.

My skin looks flawless and I'm old!

I recommend benefit boing industrial strength concealer
It's in a round tin, and a little goes a long way
Around £25

Normallynumb · 16/02/2025 13:16

I'm 60 with discolouration and it really works

Use a lot less of whatever you choose you use. And look to see where most of your lines are and really sheer it out there.

Skin creases and anything you put on the skin will exaggerate the creasing no matter now good a product it is. Anyone trying to say it won't is telling porkies to sell their product

I've found using a primer helps a lot - Huda beauty have an excellent one . Plus using a setting spray adds a bit of a glow - urban decay is great. nars have an excellent concealer
Foundation wise.. I agree - a little is better than caked in and on - Maybelline seems as good as anything else I use but I do like a bit of fenty or Huda x

Thank you.

I barely use any makeup - I never wear foundation and use a tiny few dots of concealer - not sure I could use much less really!

Maybe I'll try a blending sponge.

I looked at Benefit and Nars but there were so many shades to choose from that I chickened out 🤣 I have no idea if I'm light/fair/warm/cool/neutral...

I know what you mean
After a process of elimination I worked out I'm " fair light cool!"
To check if warm or cool. If the veins on your inside wrist are blue and silver looks better than gold against your skin, then that's cool( pale in my case!)
If your veins are greenish and yellow gold suits you then you're warm
A cheaper but good range to try is the Maybelline age rewind concealer
It's a rollerball applicator with fewer shades

I used primer and a makeup blending sponge today and it looks loads better! Thank you @doubleshotcappuccino and @Chuchoter .

I'll keep using the concealer I have until it's finished, and then try to figure out what shade I am with Nars or Benefit...

That's great ! The setting spray I use also is brilliant- urban decay is a good one ( you can get it on amazon) . I got the Charlotte tilbury for Christmas but it's not that different - top tip is to use the setting spray half way though once you've done the foundation and then again at the end - makes a huge difference!

AYU is excellent.
