Choosing a colour corrective cream for old woman with red face.

I am old with fabulous white hair and pale skin, except for fiercely red cheeks and nose. I am fed up with this redness, and while I've no interest in make-up per se, I want to tone it down somewhat so that I look a bit less like a belisha beacon. I googled and found out about cc creams with greenish tints, but I don't know how to choose and don't want to waste money trying them out. Can you recommend something for old wrinkly skin (I see 'for mature skin' but I'm older than that)? Expensive is ok if necessary as I won't be needing lots.

I was going to say exactly the same as @AsLivingArrows I love the Dr Jart cream and use it every day and it really works.

Bigbrommieowner · 13/02/2025 12:56

Check it's not roseacea, if it is, get the cream for it on prescription. You'll feel a lot better too for having the irritation sorted.

Erborian CCcream, the green one, is lovely. A small amount goes a long way, it’s smooth and easy to apply.

I use Rosalique cream - small tube but it lasts for ages. It soothes skin and the green tint hides the redness - I use it instead of tinted moisturiser or foundation.

I really rate the Dr Jart as well. I use that and no foundation etc over it.

I also had a course of IPL (laser) done on my face about 5 years ago and was delighted with the results, if that’s something you’d be interested in. My local beauticians did a course of 4 for €350 but I believe it’s more expensive now. My face has never gone back to the extreme redness I had pre-IPL, it’s much more subtle now.

This is what I use. I've gone from wearing a full face of full coverage foundation (double wear) to moisturiser, spf, CC cream and a few dabs of concealer and regularly get compliments on my skin. It was a game changer!

This is my go-to as well. Fabulous stuff; I would never be without it now. Hgihly recommend!

Also here to recommend Dr Jart and Eborian. Both lovely and light and adapt to your skin colour.

Quacking4it · 13/02/2025 13:31

Another vote for erborian. I have autoimmune and get rash on face. It covers it really well

Apileofballyhoo · 13/02/2025 13:35

Treating the skin might mean you don't have to cover it up. A consultation with one of the online dermatology services, trip to the GP, or trying azelaic acid might help if you don't fancy the others. If it's worse at times you could look for diet triggers or heat and cold extremes, or something you are doing like harsh cleansing.

Have you tried this one?

I didn’t rate this at all but the Aldi dupe is fantastic!

Also really recommend Erborian

anon2022anon · 13/02/2025 13:43

I used dermatica prescription to treat the problem, and erborian cc to give a bit of cover

KittenPause · 13/02/2025 13:48

I have red cheeks which get redder through the day

I wear Boots No 7 Stay perfect foundation which also protects against the elements as well as evening out my skin

KittenPause · 13/02/2025 13:50

I found that CC or BB creams or tinted moisturisers just slid off my face throughout the day as did sheer foundations like Nars

The13thFairy · 13/02/2025 13:53

For those off you asking if the redness is at all sore, it isn't. I think it's thread veins (I used to have the ones round my nose removed) but they seem to have taken over so much of my face now.

I have this one. It's brilliant! Better than many others. I don't even need make up over it! It's great.

Purplecatshopaholic · 13/02/2025 14:04

Another vote for the Erborian. You can get a smaller travel size first if you want to try it.

Also here to recommend Erborian in the green tube. It's so good, I don't wear anything else on top. I tried the dr jart one but personally found it too drying and hated the formula.

Get a tester first because it turned me yellow like a Simpson!

LoafofSellotape · 13/02/2025 16:40

Lily Lolo Blush Away is very good

PixieandDelilahsmum · 13/02/2025 16:40

I've used Clinique Redness Solutions foundation for years. It is expensive £35 (ish?) but I only need a small amount.

I tested myself to the powder but it was bright yellow on my skin, what a waste 😭
