Gold jewellery - where to buy

I am thinking of treating myself to some jewellery as I don’t really have any “real” jewellery other than a couple of small bits. I think I would like to start with a slightly chunky gold chain type necklace. What I definitely don’t want is anything gold plated. My budget is under £1000 as I will be paying for this with my own hard earned money!

So the question is where to get the best value for something that I will love. I am in London so in theory I have lots of options…. I really don’t care about the brand but I did see the kind of thing I like at Mejuri - like this:

any suggestions welcome!

That is a lovely, versatile necklace.

It's hollow and possibly very lightweight (the weight is not given in the details), so you may be paying more than you need to if you purchase online.

I'd check pawnshops and go round different jewellers to look for something similar, with a heavier weight. If you cannot find one with the charm friendly clasp, a jeweller should be able to add one for you.

Hatton Garden?

Thanks for pointing out that it is hollow!! That would explain the price for something that looks quite chunky. I will definitely look at some in person - will not buy online.

Real gold is at a high at the moment so I’d wait a bit. See if the world price comes down. Or look at secondhand- much better value. Lots of high st jewellers have second hand sections or try antiques markets.
