Tutter · 08/05/2008 10:01

hmm I was wondering about this earlier today Fillyjonk. In fact I did wonder about making bandannas (ok, headscarves ), not sure what to do for the best. Not helped by the rather stiff sea breeze that accompanies me most places I go

JeremyVile · 08/05/2008 15:21

No such thing exists, don't listen to anyone who tells you different.

MrsBadger · 08/05/2008 15:25

I wear a straw cowboy hat (£3 Next sale) but suspect it would look better on a donkey

also have a panama type for poncier occasions

MissingMyHeels · 08/05/2008 15:28

These aren't very donkey-like!

cmotdibbler · 08/05/2008 15:33

I'd like one too. And it needs to come in sizes otherwise I can't jam it on my rather large head.

noddyholder · 08/05/2008 15:34

I saw someone wearing a white cap and it looked great.

marmadukescarlet · 08/05/2008 15:48

I've got a big black straw floppy job from accesorise, a little like the pale one at the bottom of missingmyheels link.

It looks fab with big glasses - very Jackie O.

Fillyjonk · 08/05/2008 16:20

jeremy i think you are right

te trouble is i look more like a donkey than a cowgirl

and there is no point me wearing zebra print, i would be found out to be an imposter (or possibly confused with a zebra)

google plumo

Rimini hat

has wire in brim

any good???

florenceuk · 08/05/2008 16:33

ooh toast have lovely crocheted straw hats - see here I wonder if you could make one? There is a crochet hat in the Happy Hooker which you could probably adapt.
Also there is a lovely description of making straw hats in Little House in the Big Woods from long strips of braided straw.

Other than that I have a floppy fabric one from last year from Fat Face which I think looks fine.

MrsBadger · 08/05/2008 19:26

Counting, that is gorgeous

but £59!

Countingthegreyhairs · 08/05/2008 19:34

oh fark ...forgot to look at price .....oops, a rather basic error ....

blimey ...59 quid... could try and put something together with a piece of vintage cotton and an old wire hanger myself for that ....

CoffeeCrazedMama · 08/05/2008 22:19

Try Uniqlo - I got an excellent one for under a tenner.
