Tall clothing (Next in particular)

Sorry this one is a bit niche.

Wondering if any fellow tall women can tell me if Next changed their tall sizing (probably years ago and I've not noticed! 😆). I have bought a pair of trousers from Vinted and they were 12T but they are a bit too long. Looked up Next website and their sizing is now: Long (L) 31", Tall (XL) 33" and tall (XXL) 34"

I've measured the trousers and they're 34" so must be an older style. Now looked back at my older pairs of trousers and some are just labeled L, XL etc.

Writing this out I've realised I'm not asking anything just observing Tall ranges. On a side note I've bought trousers from Long Tall Sally and their shortest is now 34" which is too long for me now.

Any fellow tall girls struggle to get the right length on clothes, particularly trousers? Although I bought a top from LTS as well and the arms are way too long as is the body 🙈

My inside leg is 35" and honestly, I've given up trying. Next often don't have the right size in so I have to order It and it's just humiliating to have to trudge from shop to shop and find nothing that fits.

It sounds extreme but every 18 months, I take the ferry to the Netherlands and go on a big shopping spree. Most shops there cater for me easily, without having to go to a tall section or specialist shop.

I buy men's trousers. Aside from the pocket issue, which is the reason I still buy men's trousers even when the same shop does women's trousers in lengths too, the standard women's length (because we're all the same, not that tall height 🙄) never fits me.

Would Long Tall Sally suit you? They do 36" go to 38"! Although that shopping trip away to the Netherlands sounds so good!

It's crazy though! I don't understand how they can claim it's same length but don't fit.

Really! Is this new? Only as I bought the M&S cord trousers a couple of years ago and love them but feel they look slightly short. I'm now not sure if they were 31" and wonder if theres an updated version in 33"!

31 inch inside leg is not tall. Whatever Next may say.

Im 5ft 8 and 33 inch leg.

BobnLen · 06/02/2025 20:38

I'm 33 inch leg 5'10" and in Next I can be either L or XL, I find Fatface Long is usually a good fit and some M&S and Seasalt Tall also but it's all a bit hit and miss.

My arms are sadly proportionally longer than my legs and I fear that as I shrink with age, they won't and will be dragging the ground. I always need the tall size for sleeves

BobnLen · 06/02/2025 20:48

Years ago, iirc Next did label them T rather than XL and XXL and they were very long, too long for me, but this is going back a bit, when they used to have a tall selection in some stores

HappyNewFeckingYear · 06/02/2025 21:00

@DreamloverTealover I think you nailed it in the OP. Yes every so often, pretty much every company changes the leg lengths just for fun.

@BobnLen that's what I remember it as. There was T and I used to always just get L or XL.

I bought a pair of wide leg trousers from Vinted advertised as tall but the label said L and they're perfect length. Thought they'd be a bit too short so maybe an old style of L.

It's making it harder to buy things from Vinted that are Next labels 😂🙈 I wanted a pair of Tapered trousers in a bigger size as my ones from years ago are a bit snug now but it's hard to find the right length. Having said that the T pair in the size up I've bought are tight round the waist so maybe they are an older range.

@HappyNewFeckingYear what a mare! I think M&S have done it too going by a post on this thread 🥴

Carrying on the conversation.... Want to get a pair of Adalae Wide Leg jeans from New Look and I'd usually get a tall. Their tall is at least 36 or 38 inch and long is 34"! Regular 32". It's great they're expanding the lengths but the usual "tall" section has changed again.

Zara trousers labelled 'full-length' on the website work for me (34").

I'm going to do this! Where do you go in particular please?
