Uuugh my hair is just crap.

It is below shoulder nearly to bra. A decent natural caramel blonde but a horrible texture. It's wavy but won't curl, even with the CG method, etc. So much hard work!

I tend to use a hot brush at 180degrees with heat protection and just smooth it out. So whether I wear it wavy or smooth it still looks fuzzy and split.

Thing is, I didn't use heat for 5 years, treated it well and it STILL looked like this.
So I came to the conclusion that tthis is just my hair and we need to get along!

My question is, I only suit it worn up or back due to the crappy texture. It's soft, healthy enough and growing, but really doesn't suit me worn loose. I can't get used to that as I always used to wear it loose but I guess it's changed now that I am older.
How do you get used to not being able to wear your hair loose?
Sounds a bit silly but it bothers me. I like that I can just throw on a hat or hood, go hiking, not care about clips and shit. It feels boring tied up or back, and I wonder if this is just typical patriarchal stuff that insinuates loose, long hair is more feminine.

Anyone else experienced this?

I would describe my hair as crap and it doesn't help I'm crap at doing it
I had a keratin treatment done at hairdressers 2 weeks ago and although expensive, the difference is amazing. It's much smoother and sleeker, easier to style and takes half the time it used to.
Not sure if that's something for you to consider but I stand in solidarity with you x

Google uncombable hair syndrome, if you don't have it you'll feel better about your hair. If you do have it you can get medical attention for it.

Yeah, I have hair like this. A keratin treatment is definitely your friend. It smooths it out and gets rid of the frizz
