Narrow fit velcro school trainers

So, must come in black or at least mostly black. I know this has been asked before and I took the good advice to go with Asics patriots but after several pairs I'm wondering if I should switch it up.

My dd's dexterity is a little limited so shoelaces on school shoes are a way off unfortunately. And I want trainers for her rather than shoes. And to not be completely fugly if possible.

So, what's new and any good? Are the Asics gt1000s also a good narrow width?
Any other brands/styles worth looking at?

Thanks!

Not a specific shoe, but have you looked at 'self tie' laces? we got them for my DD as she found laces very hard for numerous reasons, and they were great. You can apply them to any laced shoe. TEEZY No Tie Shoe Laces for Trainers. It might give you more choice/flexibility about brands etc.

You could try looking at Ricosta. Not 100% if they do trainers but they're a good fit on my narrow footed DD and are all velcro fastening I think.

@xmasdealhunter good call to look at laces and those ones are new to me, thank you!

I've had a look at ricosta, thanks but the only trainer styles are listed as being for boys. Even if I could get over how backwards a brand must be to only make trainer styles 'for boys' and just stick my DD in them anyway, boys will generally have wider feet so...

Have just come across these, how old is your DD? They'd do well for a younger child but I can't see a secondary school aged child wanting to wear them! Boys, Girls, Kids Unisex CICA Star Orb Kid Black Trainers | Clarks UK

@xmasdealhunter She's 6. Unfortunately they go in the fugly heap for me personally (not that she'd care too much) and the reviews aren't good.

Realise I'm being pretty negative here and I do appreciate all responses I just wish there were a small handful of options!

We buy this for PE https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/kids-light-rip-tab-shoes-soft-140/_/R-p-145009?mc=8486647&c=black&utm_term=8486647-2550850&srsltid=AfmBOopvOp2ycgqLNwhvBtfJhIU20NLQLqOuPxRglXg_UcyT9aw-YHfuBPo

Unfortunately my daughter has really narrow feet and finding shoes is always difficult! They are not as flat as I would like but ticked a lot of boxes.

skkyelark · 03/02/2025 20:34

My narrow-footed daughter also wears Decathlon (well, Quechua) for PE. She actually wears the trail shoes, as they come in a waterproof version, but I'm not sure if they would be black enough. (Her school doesn't care about colour for PE shoes.)

She also wears a lot of Ricosta and Froddo. Any of these any good?

I know some sizes are out of stock on the website, but you might be able to find them from another seller. I don't think I've ever bought from Ricosta directly, and the Froddo suppliers are just the first ones I found.

If her school allows ankle boots, my daughter loves the Froddo chelsea boots (the regular, not the barefoot, which I think is wider) and they have zips.

Half the kids at my daughter's school (including her) wear the Clarks trainers linked by @xmasdealhunter. My daughter has very narrow feet and they work. She's had about six pairs over the years.

Cedrabbage · 04/02/2025 11:00

Decathlon won't ship to me! I went with another pair of Asics because, trainers plus I can't fault them (she gets plenty of shoe free time)... @eurochick I'm glad they work for you but aside from being a nike/Adidas/sports direct trainers kind of school, I got burnt by Clarks shoes once and swore never again hope their quality has improved over the years!

Thanks all :)
