What the F do I wear??!!

I'm going to a funk/soul night in a cathedral for my best friend's 50th. It's a DJ set up, looking forward to it to celebrate my amazing friend. All going are around the same age (I'm 46). What the hell do I wear?!? I don't know where to start. I love clothes, like to feel good but I'm at a loss. I've realised how little I actually go OUT if you see what I mean?! Can anyone help? I'm a high street kind of person when it comes to clothes/fashion. I don't spend loads but will if it means I feel good on the night.

What's your usual kind of style? I think I'd go with wide legged trousers and a more fitted top myself. Maybe something like these? Buy Black Elastic Back Wide Leg Trousers from the Next UK online shop. I like the type of top they have paired them with

I always wear flats ( docs/biker boots) but to be honest I just don't want to look shit . Those pants are lovely but I'm a bit rounded in the middle (working on it). Usually a dress and flat boots probably but I think my dresses are a bit dated. I don't know? Like a black shift dress to hide my middle but then black tights and boots. But in this a bit 2000s? I want to be 2025 and confident! Not feeling it though.

Sequins! Loads of dresses, tops and trousers around. My favourite dress is a rainbow sequin dress that I got from a fancy dress shop. I have worn it at parties, gigs and festivals. People have stopped me in the street several times and asked where I have got it or just to say how amazing my dress was. Looks good with chunky ankle boots or high heels. PS I an 68 but don't look or act my age 🤣 🌈

Have a look at AllSaints and Never Fully Dressed. They have some lovely things that are a bit cooler, yet comfy looking, than many of the typical fast fashion items.

I wouldn't wear wide legged trousers to a club night unless they're cropped. They'll be mopping up drink spillage and you'll smell like stale lager.

I'm a similar age and I'd go for a short black dress or skirt and top. Possibly denim with tights and boots/trainers.

Sequins would be a bit much I think.
