Piercing London - looking for swanky!

Big birthday coming up for DD and I really want to treat her to a day out and her first piercing.

I know it's not a big deal to most people but for various reasons I'm looking for a studio which will make it a real occasion as we're going to be staying in London for the weekend.

If you know of anywhere which will give her the wow factor (as well as the piercing in the right place Grin) I'd be very grateful for any recommendations anywhere in London!

Friends have really rated Liberty!

Depends how old. Some studios won’t do it unless the child is above 8/9 and is able to ask themselves, both parent and child have ID and the child must be able to explain aftercare to the staff. A good studio will also make you wait if they don’t think ears are grown enough, in order that the piercing doesn’t stretch and go wonky as they get older. Goes without saying only go to ones with needles, not guns.

I had one of mine done at Maria Tash in Liberty and cannot fault them. It was £££ though!

Yes to Maria Tash at Liberty

Then you can look at the lovely departments and go for a nice brunch/lunch/cake in the cafe upstairs Smile

DH treated DD to one at Maria Tash for her 21st last year, not cheap!
When we were there she fancied another and got it at House of Astrid and Miyu on Carnaby St for a fraction of the cost and it definitely still felt special.

InTheRainOnATrain · 28/01/2025 13:33

Maria Tash are also in Harrods if you’d rather there over Liberty’s for extra bling factor

pinkyredrose · 28/01/2025 13:34

What piercing, ear?

KittenPause · 28/01/2025 13:36

Most DD get theirs done at Superdrug or Claire's and that's exciting enough at age 10 ish

KittenPause · 28/01/2025 13:39

But I can see how if it's your first at 18 or above that Liberty's would be nice as an adult

eyespartyparty · 28/01/2025 14:08

Yes just basic first ear piercings. She's secondary school so should have mo issues re still growing.

Thank you for the recommendations, hadn't thought of Liberty! I won't be able to visit in advance so useful to get some ideas of where will make her feel like a special day.

Friends have really rated Liberty!

That is interesting! I walked past the piercings mini shop in Liberty a couple of weeks ago. It looked bright and sparkly and I was almost tempted to book myself in!

Liberty is a good shout as could do lots of wandering around, trying on makeup etc as well.

Summerdew · 28/01/2025 14:13

I’ve taken both DDs to Maria Tash at Liberty, brilliant service. Sadly both too irresponsible for the lovely (expensive!) studs they were done with as despite being flat back screws both lost one 🙄 we did however have a lovely time and it felt very special (there is a Cafe Elan on Carnaby St where we celebrated with cake afterwards).

eyespartyparty · 28/01/2025 14:58

Summerdew I'm sorry they both lost one! Do you think that had anything to do with the product/shop? DD is quite sporty but the school let them tape new ear piercings. It would be annoying if we had to get them looked at afterwards, or replaced, as we don't live very close!

No it’s because they fiddled and messed with them, I’ve had one done there myself and it hasn’t budged so I know it’s on them messing around 🙄
They do ask you to come back to downsize the post and get them checked after a few months though so keep that in mind if it’s going to be a pain to get to town.

StarlightLady · 28/01/2025 16:30

I recommend Astrid & Miyu. They can be found on the ground floor of Selfridges or at 4 St Christopher’s Place round the corner. They have other shops too. Lovely surroundings and wonderful staff.

eyespartyparty · 28/01/2025 18:42

Interestingly we have an Astrid & Miyu quite close, I wonder if they'd do the original piercing while we're having the weekend in London, and do the check in the closer store if necessary. I'll phone them and ask, might be safer than doing the Liberty option just in case...

I can’t praise them highly enough.
