Expensive perfume has gone off in just over a year: refund?

I have got a bottle of perfume that seems to have oxidised - it was suddenly brown around the spray atomiser bit and no longer smells of much at all.

I've only had it just over a year (xmas 2023) and feel really annoyed. I kept it on a coolish place, not in direct sunlight. Is it worth contacting the company and asking for a replacement? Or too late?

How disappointing. How have you stored it? I keep mine in their box in a drawer in bedroom so it’s in a dark and not humid place. If you’ve stored it properly I’d definitely contact customer service. Even if it’s not been in optimum conditions I’d not think it’s normal for it to do that .

It's on a shelf not in the box. But then I've always kept perfumes that way and ever had an issue.

Is it vanilla based? They often go significantly darker over time.

Well I reckon you have nothing to lose by contacting the customer service dept of the company. A lot of people won’t store perfume properly but unless it’s been in direct sunlight unboxed or in a very humid bathroom it shouldn’t do that.

I've contacted the company. Not vanilla based but citrusy and apparently that can go off quicker.

I hope the company are helpful and refund some/all of the money you spent 🤞🏻

There would have been a pictogram on the box denoting that the perfume was good for 12 months once opened. All products that go on the skin have them and they are typically 3 months, 6 months, 12 months etc

I agree re the pictogram denoting the time, the fact that it would be on the box and that perfume boxes close and don't resemble disposable packaging means that it should be kept in the box. Probs will last longer than the 12 months in box

The pictogram on the bottle says 36 months...
