My DM needs a dress for a spring wedding
5'2 size 16.
She won't spend loads on herself
Wants to cover upper arms
Quite busty
Any suggestions of where to look
I've found a lovely chi chi dress on Vinted but other brand suggestions welcome

Can you give a specific budget?

SoNiceToComeHomeTo · 24/01/2025 16:00

Try Bombshell. Shapely dressed in lovely fabric.

Bombshell went into administration a while ago. The founder is now trading as:

Jasper Conran do lovely shirt dresses. Would look flattering if she wore it with the top few buttons undone over a pretty camisole.

Phase Eight is a good place to start.
Also a lot of MOB/MOG shops have sales on at minute.

veraswaistcoat · 24/01/2025 17:34

How old is she?

IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle · 24/01/2025 20:15

Budget? And does she want "mother of the groom" stuff or something that's actually nice and fun to wear?

Hyacinth1000 · 24/01/2025 20:19

I’m 5 2 size 16 too. Probably against the rules but I’ve been trying to sell my mother of groom dress on Vinted. A Julian Charles dress originally 650, I got it in sale for 325 and I want 80. PM me if you want details. Stunning dress

stressedtothemaxdotcom · 25/01/2025 16:02

Sorry. She's 75

She's had a shit few years so this wedding means a lot.
Thus is what I found on Vinted and she liked it

Nothing too formal and obvious as MOG
It's a very low key casual affair no church or formalities
I'd struggle to get her spend more than £50 she'll get shoes/bag etc on top though

If your budget is only £50 then unless that is either very cheap, or you're very familiar with the brand, or the seller will accept returns you risk being out of pocket with no dress.

No dress in Finery's range is more than £79- many are less. I've filtered one link to show only red and pink. The other list is the full range. Some of the dresses are office wear but the more colourful ones are wedding suitable. They aren't "M of G" but that's a plus not a minus.

stressedtothemaxdotcom · 26/01/2025 13:59

It's not a set budget I'm guessing a bit because she doesn't spoil herself
I'll have a look thank you

If it's not set at £50 have a look at Joannie ( no I don't work for either Finery or Joannie. I just think they both make interesting, very affordable dresses and in Joannie's case often from natural fibres)
