Zara pleated skirt- pleats washed out immediately

I have a Zara pleated skirt (yes, very 2022/3 but I can't afford to strictly keep up to date with fashion) and have washed it for the first time and all the pleats have fallen out. Is there any remedy for this? I took a lot of care and gently washed by hand, more of a rinse than anything, so it's really disappointing. Thanks.

Is it dry? They might bounce back when dry....

No, it's drying but I have a few pleated skirts and they all kept their basic pleats when hand washed. How disappointing! It was second hand but NWT, if I'd paid retail price (about 50/60) I'd be seriously put out.

That’s very odd and disappointing. I had one - thin polyester bought in a Zara sale for £5.99 at the start of 2020 - that lasted for a good three years. I used to throw it in the washing machine and the pleats always came back. (And I was always delightedly intrigued and amazed at this phenomenon.)

What material is yours?

You can iron pleats back in. It does take ages though.
