Flats - what's in fashion?

AdelaideAtHome · 16/01/2025 18:32

I'm doing a bit of a wardrobe overhaul, but I'm not a naturally stylish person! I struggle with putting outfits together.

Currently my go-to look is wide-leg pants or long-ish skirts with trainers or ankle boots, but I'm moving into a new role and would like a slightly smarter look too. I can't walk in heels though!

What sort of flats would go with wide leg trousers? Is the pointy-toe back in style?

Thanks!

Yes pointy toe is in or almond shape if pointy isn't your thing, both go well with wide legs.

For a more casual look I like adidas campus 00s or gazelles.

I’m thinking of these with my wide leg trousers 🤷‍♀️ rothys.com/en-gb/products/the-square-mary-jane-cream-captoe

I agree with almond shaped toe. A loafer usually is business like and will work.

I bought these in October because they are classics, and I don’t want to pay ££ for trends. They obviously won’t appeal to everyone.

I have these which whilst not to everyone's taste, are comfortable for my wonky old feet, they fit perfectly and have a decent sole unlike lot of flats. I love them with a wide leg or turned up jeans.
If I was looking now, I'd probably go for something chunkier, but I tend to wear trainers most of the time these days, working from home.

Thanks everyone for the ideas. I've seen some low heeled slingbacks with an almond toe that I think might work. Looks like ballet flats are back on trend - I'm not sure if I'm ready for that yet!

I thought this was a thread about property not shoes 🤣🤣🤣

OP, have a look at the ESSKA website, their shoes are so comfy, even the high heels. Honestly, you can walk in them all day. They have loads of flatter ones too.

WineOfYourFiveADay · 03/02/2025 18:59

I'd say ballet flats are definitely back too - this suede pair from Reserved are nice. If you're allowed a bit of animal print at work, this pair of flats from & Other Stories or Massimo Dutti are fun! Otherwise a classic slingback is always a good workwear option with a tiny heel like these from COS.
