Moisturising shower oil / gel / soap

I’m after a new shower gel / soap / oil. Could be my age (44) or the weather but my skin has changed this winter.

It doesn’t look dry but feels tight and it certainly doesn’t look nourished - I know moisturizer would do the trick but my house is SO cold and the thought of applying it and standing about waiting for it to absorb it’s just too much so I need a lazy girl answer!

In the summer I’m bronzed and moisturized but in the winter I just can’t bear anything cold on me. Poxy house.

I love a fragrance (except rose) and would love your recommendations. Bonus points if it’s in Boots as I have vouchers but not essential!

Thank you!

L'Occitaine Almond shower oil and their Almobd oil body supple spray are a treat especially in this weather.

Aveeno - not the indulgent scent you might be looking for, but helpful when skin needs TLC.

The almond sounds lovely actually - and a treat which I think is well needed in January.

I always forget about Aveeno and actually that might help get me back on an even keel.

Thank you!

I love the lemon L'Occitaine.

My skin have vastly improved over the last month. I use an African wash cloth, Dove and Aveeno, both extra moisturising.

WhiteRosesAndCandles · 13/01/2025 16:17

It's these ones.

I use Aldi's own face wash.

I shower at night, dry off and moisturise straight away. I have very dry skin and psoriasis. This daily routine has made a huge improvement. I think the African net cloth has made the most difference.

Dove hydrate is a good basic. And the bar soap is great for dry hands.

I love REN Rose otto. Makes my skin very silky but if you don't like rose scent it won't suit you. They may do other bath oils. The quality is great.

Dove Pro Age shower gel and some exfoliating gloves works for me, or Beautypie do a scrub in a tub which is basically heavenly scented lard and you could swim the channel after that.

Cerave oil foaming cleanser, moisturiser and face wash.,

Sarkyandcynical · 13/01/2025 17:06

I'm currently using the Naturium glow-getter multi-oil body wash followed by one of their body moisturisers (using the Retinol or Bio-lipid) and that's helping my dryness. Available from Space NK.

Phunkychicken · 13/01/2025 18:03

I got DH one of the Beauty Pie shower oils and he is obsessed, he has used the L'Occitane one and loves this more. It's v much an oil though, doesn't foam.

If you want a foaming one both the a-derma and bioderma ones are great

MeOnSea · 13/01/2025 18:19

Bioderma atoderm shower oil is brilliant and has a subtle delicate scent.

I also used a Palmers coconut body oil at the end of the shower, ie before drying.

the combination leaves my skin feeling nourished and you’re not stood there for ages slathering on body lotion

Please tell me more about this. I'm another whose skin needs moisture, but can't bear standing about in the cold after the shower.

I’m the lowest maintenance beauty person ever, am laughing at the thought of providing ‘advice’ 😅.

It’s honestly seconds, the oil is in a pump bottle, I think I’ve thrown away the lid. Turn the shower off, couple of pumps onto my hands and quickly rub over damp skin while I’m still in the shower, so I don’t get cold. Towel on as usual. By the time I dry off it’s soaked in enough. Towels don’t seem to get oily or anything…

Dilbertian · 13/01/2025 20:44

I am liking the sound of this! Difficult to believe it does not leave your towels greasy. I'm going to have to try it. I've looked at body oils, and can't find any that I can use (allergies). They seem to be, essentially, oil. So why not try mixing up my own?

Rina66 · 13/01/2025 20:50

I use bio oil every night, just smooth it on then put my pyjamas on, I'm not too bothered if they get a bit oily, they're only cotton, so easily washed - my skin almost repels water in the shower in the morning, so it definitely works!

fivebyfivebuffy · 13/01/2025 20:54

Bioderma shower oil definitely

MaggieBsBoat · 13/01/2025 20:55

I’m going to buy one of everything mentioned in this thread and compare! I have crocodile skin basically. It ain’t pretty or comfortable!

thesilver · 13/01/2025 21:09

I really like L'Occitane shea shower oil and the whole range. Everyone recommends the almond, which is lovely. But I really love the Shea

fivebyfivebuffy · 13/01/2025 22:01

Oh I forgot the neutrogena deep moisture spray, you just spray it on - it's slippery so do it in the shower and rinse the floor or stand on a towel!

I love this oil but yes….absolute death trap!

Thank you so much for all your recommendations- I’ve not heard of most of these so have compiled a list and will give them all a bloody go!

I have the almond oil on order so I’m off to a start!

Slinky gorgeous bod incoming 😆

ooh I forgot the Eucerin Aquafor spray is amazing, spray it on wet skin and be done.

Works so well, don't even need to rub it in. Does make floor lethal though

Wannabegreenfingers · 14/01/2025 12:02

I use a basic bar of soap to clean myself and then once out of the shower (Still wet) put on baby oil. Clean my teeth, then dry off. I get lots of compliments on my skin, it's never dry and very minimal faff. My house is also cold and never above 16/17 degrees for a morning shower.
