Preggers - can I wear black dress to May wedding?

Do you think I can get away with this black wrap dress for a May wedding, if I dress it up with nice bright jewellery and shoes? I'm slightly pregnant but got a bigger-than-expected bump and can't face the horrible maternity dresses I've seen elsewhere. Plus I know this is stretchy and forgiving.

What do you think?

I wore v similar dress to a September wedding when I was up the stick with ds. With fabulous shoes, a clutch bag and a wrap I think it would look great.

mourningpaper · 04/05/2008 14:06

Generally it's frowned upon to wear black to a wedding - I would find something else

hoxtonchick · 04/05/2008 14:06

very nice. and you totally can wear black. even if people were to get sniffy you're pg fgs so normal 'rules' certainly don't apply.

twinsetandpearls · 04/05/2008 14:06

I think when you are pregnant you do have much more laeeway.

I do like the green one though.

i am wearing black to a wedding and im notpreggers-tis not frowned upon these days i dont think
is a lovely dress

mazzystar · 04/05/2008 14:09

The green is gorgeous I agree - would work well all summer too

But black is totally acceptable - and very smart - at weddings these days, especially if in the city.

twinsetandpearls · 04/05/2008 14:09

I was really cute when pregnant with dd as she was my first, I don;t think I will be the same next time.

MrsMattie · 04/05/2008 14:10

Yeh, the green one is nice, isn't it? But I'll get so much more wear out of the black one It's not a traditional wedding - civil service followed by big pub lunch - so I don't think black per se will be a huge problem.
I hope. Hmmm.

I've worn black (when pg) to mutiple weddings, no eyebrows raised.

Shitemum · 04/05/2008 15:46

Team it with a colourful/red? wrap and chunky jewellery.

MrsMattie · 04/05/2008 15:47

Ooh, this is good. The consensus is yes. I've already ordered it, so was hoping I wouldn't have to send it back! Yes@Shitemum - was thinking chunky necklace and heels in bold colour...

My witness at my civil wedding (we had a civil and a church) wore black. She looked better than me
