I have the chocolate round toe wedge slingbacks for work from next They are not great as none of the sole reviver ones are.

I also buy a lot of work shoes from viva la diva as they do a wider fit.

Looking wise. Although they were better in the flesh as I bought them on line. The front lokks good with trousers as well. Dp said they made my feet look tiny ( size 6)

They are comfy, I kept them on all day, I usually have my slippers on by lunch when wearing heels.

I have a role that means I am running about all over school all day so they got a hammering.

I wear shoes in with a grim determination. They are bloody going to get comfortable, alright?

HaventSleptForAYear · 04/05/2008 21:15

Hmmm. Have made this mistake several times, especially with summer shoes and it has never worked for me - sorry !

But the wearing round the house with socks could work - I find I can wear winter shoes in with tights on - anything barefoot and new is a recipe for lacerated feet.

Am really stuck on shoes at the moment - am on my feet all day too and can only manage it in flats - and even then my feet hurt.

snowleopard · 04/05/2008 23:37

Yes, I usually have a pair of Merrell trainers for walks/beach etc (not for stylish moments cod so leave me alone) and they always need wearing in - but are great once they have been. Usually happens with winter boots too.

Sounds like a recipe for corns, bunions and days of pain

wessexgirl · 04/05/2008 23:39

I used to. And it was always fine until I bought a pair of work shoes that literally bit a chunk out of my ankle. I'm quite anxious about good fit now. (And the whole thing became an office legend ).

God I was just ruminating on this- I have a pair of black camper wedge sandals that I have just pulled out for summer. This is their 4th summer and the bloody things still rub over the top of my foot- thing is I don't remember them being uncomfy when I tried them on (wouldn't have bought them). Have seen an acceptable replacement in clarks (of all places) and think I should bight the bullet- but it seems like such a waste ....

Anna8888 · 05/05/2008 09:24

I used to buy shoes that weren't comfortable.

Then I went on a round-the-world trip for a couple of months and wore a pair of totally flat, velcro-fastening shoes or flip flops the whole time.

When I came back I found my feet had "grown" (in fact destressed) a whole size and my wardrobe of 40 odd pairs of shoes was no longer any good to me.

Plus my feet looked and felt so much better.

nailpolish · 05/05/2008 09:28

i did when i was young and skint

thats why i have a bunion

actually its not too bad now i only wear proper shoes that fit before you all go "EWWWWWWWWW"

Anna8888 · 05/05/2008 09:33

Another huge upside of no longer wearing uncomfortable shoes is that I spend far less on shoes than I ever used to . For everyday I wear Converse (winter), Havaianas or Birkenstocks (summer) and buy one pair of flat leather boots for winter and one pair of flat leather sandals for summer. So if I really want to splash out and buy something gorgeous, I don't feel guilty at all .

Just been sorting out my summer stuff and found a storage box full of shoes I bought towards the end of last summer in the sales. Tried em on. Every single pair rubs in one place or another.
