Best clothing brands for a bit of colour

Can anyone think of a clothing brand that offers more colourful clothes than all this black, beige, grey, white?

Mid 40s for context and I like classy, elegant, feminine styles. It just feels like every shop I browse through has 100 black tops/dresses for that one burgundy or magenta one!

Budget?

New or pre-owned?

Kemi Telford. Glorious colours and prints. One of her wide skirts with a simple silk shirt looks great.

I mean for new clothes - moderate budget (up to about Cos / Mint Velvet sort of level). Thanks for any tips!

Sézane? They usually have a few colour options in most of their knitwear and trousers.

American Vintage? Often have some bright colour options.

Patra.com do plenty of colours for instance this dress is available in several colours. As a plus most if not all their cloth are natural fabrics.

But on the whole classy, elegant brands that do colour tend to be more expensive. Partly because producing beautiful colours probably requires more effort, so is more costly.

Ganni has bright cheerful stuff but you'll need to look at the discount sites (or go to Bicester Village) to avoid paying full whack.

Uniqlo do fine knit merino jumpers in many colours.

Banana Republic was good for elegant colour .... but no longer trading, at least not in the uk

LunaNorth · 05/01/2025 23:27

Jigsaw have lovely colours.

DelphiniumBlue · 05/01/2025 23:38

Scamp and Dude if you like coloured leopard print. Next has a few brightly coloured merino jumpers. Seasalt is great if you like teal. Monsoon has always majored in colours. Sahara if you have a bigger budget.

Me and Em often has some nice colorful things alongside their neutrals. I just bought a brushed cashmere pink cardigan that is absolutely gorgeous.

Wordau · 06/01/2025 04:56

I think you'll see more colour coming in with the new collections.

Until then:
Bimba y Lola
Essential Antwerp
Oliver Bonas
Anthropologie

Are all worth a shot

Another thread has reminded me of Palava:

Or just go to the shops, and look around. The colour stands out amongst all those dull dull dull blacks and greys.

I had to train myself to avoid the black when I was converting. I now only buy non-black/grey.

Don't forget that on websites you can usually choose which colours to look for.

You may feel you stand out when you're getting used to wearing colour - I have a deep crimson coat that I felt very self conscious in the first couple of times I wore it. Now I'm just pleased to be adding a bit of colour to the sea of commuters.

Oooh I think you need Essentiel Antwerp ( in the sale)

luckylavender · 06/01/2025 17:01
