Do one length hairstyles make your hair look thicker?

Just that really! I am not knowledgeable about the names of haircuts so I am unsure what to ask for. Not had a haircut from a pro since pre covid. Hair naturally stops growing at about 6” after shoulder length. Straight, wiry salt and pepper at the back, silver grey at the front

I am 50 and had thinning in the last 5 years but started using Kistch and Cornish Seaweed products and my hair has thickens massively. I have only been using those since the summer so the 3” nearest to the scalp is super thick and nice again. The rest of it not so much so!

any advice about what cuts to consider please?

I think so but for me they make my hair into a triangle shape.

Blunt cut layers work better for me, or layers with a blunt edge along the bottom.

I am googling that right now, thank you!

One length but with a few layers at the bottom so it has a bit of movement and body.

Also slightly diagonally cut around the front sides also gives shape.

I have layers in my hair and that gives it movement, I've got thick hair but it looks like lego hair without layers.

And I use the Cornish Seaweed shampoo too!!!! It's made a difference to my scalp which gets itchy and scabby.

I'd be interested to know which products you're using @Scottsmumof3 if you don't mind saying or linking them as my hair has become really thin over the last few years and it's really upsetting.

I have been using Cornish Seaweed Bath Company Shampoo and their conditioner (they do 3 for 2 which works out ok £79 for the 6 bottles). It lasts a long time and after the first few washes it lathers up much better and you need less. Once a week I use Kistch Rice Water shampoo and their conditioner. Someone bought me it so I tried it and now get it from Amazon. That is a product that is great just to use once in a while as you can overload your hair with protein if you use it all the time.

To be fair, I have no idea which product/s are doing the trick. I have PCOS and in peri menopause so my hair loss was defo hormonal. The transformation has been radical. Best hair thickness in 15 years. I haven’t done anything else that will have made my hair grow back.

Thanks for this, I will try those shampoos too

poppym12 · 05/01/2025 10:34

Thank you @Scottsmumof3. I'll get them ordered. I only need to wash my hair twice a week so maybe the rice one could be a fortnightly thing for me.

Last time I asked a hairdresser I was told one length was best way to thin my hair not thicken it. I have it thinned as well but he said layers would only make it bulkier.
