Size up or down? Comfortable sizing up equals saving around the bum after an hour. Sizing down equals a slight muffin top but it's covered up by a hoodie.
No matter what weight I am I am always between sizes 🙄 currently a comfortable 10 in most things but if a size 9 existed it would probably be perfect

Up and belt

LittleRedRidingHoody · 04/01/2025 20:15

Size up with a belt? That's what I do!

LittleRedRidingHoody · 04/01/2025 20:15

Oh snap @Octavia64 !

pizzaHeart · 04/01/2025 20:16

It exists, at least it existed in Next.
and try different places, e.g Gap sizing is more refined then M&S

LegoTherapy · 04/01/2025 20:18

I like fat face jeans and mint velvet. A belt doesn't solve the baggy butt issues, it just stops them falling down.

Experiment with different styles and brands!! I have 2 favourite styles of jeans at the moment. Cigarette M&S ones which I wear in a size 12 and wide leg jeans from Tu which I wear in a 14!

Blarn · 04/01/2025 20:19

Size up and go for no stretch.

Tooty78 · 04/01/2025 20:24

Years ago I bought a pair of trousers size 13 from M&S.
I think it was an experimental thing, as sadly they didn't continue with the 'in between' sizing.
The size 13 were perfect for me, I am typical pear shape so a size 12 is perfect on the waist, but tight on the thighs. Size 14 perfect on the thighs, massive on the waist.
I do wish I had bought more pairs!

Goatblu · 04/01/2025 20:31

Previously I've sized up and used a belt but recently I've bought a couple of pairs labelled 'hourglass fit' which has solved the problem and I've been able to buy the smaller size.

AdventFridgeOfShame · 04/01/2025 20:33

Up and a belt or get a size 29"

Or just go to different shop. I have sizes 27, 28, 29 ,30 and 31 all fit as they are different makes. and styles.

LegoTherapy · 04/01/2025 20:35

My best fit on the bum and hips are my 27 Levi bootcut but they produce a small muffin top due to being cut low.

Next do in between size jeans. I wish more shops would follow suit.

Snowmanscarf · 04/01/2025 20:36

Size up and belt.

Have you tried a different style - high rise instead of mid rise for example?

henlake7 · 04/01/2025 20:39

I'd size up, but TBH I'd rather just buy a brand that did fit me.
My favourite jeans are New Look and I'm a size 8 there, most other places I'm a 10 though.

ChickpeaPie · 04/01/2025 20:46

Next do a size 9, I couldn't believe it when I saw it in the shop. Life changer

LegoTherapy · 04/01/2025 20:48

High rise are very uncomfortable on me. I prefer them just below my navel.

Try Wranglers or M&S or any old thing. Levi are obviously not quite your shape.

Haaaaappyyynewyear · 04/01/2025 21:04

All my jeans from M&S/new look etc seem to get baggier around the waist with wear so I tend to go for slightly smaller than larger (still had to be comfortable though!)

TheOGCCL · 04/01/2025 22:38

Up as although jeans can give I need the space for any bloating. I think it also depends a bit on the material. If there's more elastane or polyester you know the will 'grow' more.

EveryOtherNameTaken · 04/01/2025 22:57

Depends where I get them. Really a size 11 but mostly go down a size as going up hives me a slightly weird baggy crutch 😒

Pyjamatimenow · 04/01/2025 23:04

I have the exact same issue. No matter what weight I get to I’m always between sizes. It’s very annoying. I think it is better though if you go for jeans that are sized in inches and with less or no stretch.

Me, too. 5ft 3 and size 10s sometimes too big and 8s are sometimes too small.

Tryonemoretime · 13/05/2025 13:43

I had to buy a size 14 swimsuit in M and S a couple of years ago! I weighed a bit less then. Their sizing is still hit and miss for me.
