Me and Em gone mad

changecandles · 03/01/2025 21:41

I like Me and Em. I see them as a safe option for decent quality top end high street brand.

My shock at seeing their new arrivals. £495 for a Mac. £650 for a tweedy Chanel knock off blazer. £195 for jeans.

What happened???? Frankly I just don't value them as being relevant at that price point. I do buy things at that price point and above but I'm buying brands that I consider more luxury and higher end when I spend that sort of money. Not Me and Em

Where was the sample sale?

I didn’t buy anything either. Struggled to see how so many ladies had baskets full. I went at 2pm - were you the 3pm slot ?

blueshoes · 06/03/2025 21:02

The last thing I want to look like is a Labour cabinet member 😱I'll pass.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 06/03/2025 21:06

Yes, by which time there was hardly anything left in sizes 8-14. But if you were a 4, 6 or 16 there was loads!

Last time I had a ticket for 2pm, found lots and everything was reduced by another 50% while I was standing in line to pay.

DGPP · 06/03/2025 21:27

Loved them about three years ago for summer dresses and other bits. Now think it’s not worth the extortionate prices

bunnybunnybunnybunny · 06/03/2025 22:15

It's so dull. While I know clothing has gone up due to manufacturing, energy and other costs, it's too expensive for what it is case in point there's one item I like - a denim jacket for £250 - at least £85 too expensive for what it should cost.

Am another who misses Raey. Desperately. Am looking forward to what Rachael Proud does next.

SchoolDilemma17 · 07/03/2025 05:59

How do you find out about the sample sale?

KiIIingMeDeftly · 07/03/2025 08:46

I think one year I had an email about it but mainly I just Google it around Feb as it's always held early March. Tickets go quickly though.

How do you find out about the sample sale?

Surely that’s the sort of thing the mailing list would offer? Or their instagram presence?

I’ve never managed to get to any sample sale since sometime in the 90s - but I sign up to the mailing list of every new brand / shop that looks appealing. Grit my teeth through the inbox inundation and get to know the rhythm of their sales and promotions over a few months - and whether I like the general vibe and usability of the website. Then usually unsubscribe once I’ve made up my mind. Unless the emails continue to be unusually informative or entertaining.

I've just followed a link from an Instagram account this morning to a stunning red silk jumpsuit. Yes, it's Me & Em for over 900 euros! I really love the cheesecloth dresses & they're priced on a parity with other brands, but this jumpsuit is insanely priced.

ItisIbeserk · 07/03/2025 10:16

I really love this but it needs to go into the sale before I even come close to buying it. Women's Navy Cheesecloth Gathered Sleeve Maxi Dress | ME+EM

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 07/03/2025 11:21

I like the cheesecloth co-ords. I'm short though so would need to have the drawstring permanently pulled in on the trousers and the skirt would be a maxi.

spoodlesee · 07/03/2025 11:45

There's a real lack of middle market fashion now, it's either cheap or very expensive.

Edited

That is lovely but on anyone with big boobs (ie me) it would have a Bet Lynch vibe unless I wore a vest underneath it. I might put it on my wish list though....

ItisIbeserk · 07/03/2025 12:08

Hahaha. I can imagine. I am however the proverbial ironing board so no such concerns for me.

LesLavandes · 04/01/2025 02:02

I only buy in their sales now

Same. Or on vinted

KiIIingMeDeftly · 07/03/2025 12:09

The white version of that dress was in the sample sale for about £60 but I resisted as I have a couple of cheesecloth dresses already!

ItisIbeserk · 07/03/2025 12:11

I never knew about this sample sale. I'm on their mailing list but have to admit I only signed up for the discount so never open the emails. Had I known...

Morning only though by the sounds of it, if you're in a middle size.

SueK25 · 07/03/2025 12:15

Love (most) their clothes but only buy in the sale now!

MrsCGreenwich · 17/07/2025 17:29

Me & Em clothing
totally shambolic customer service! I like the clothes but the staff are rude in the stores, you can’t take things back to stores for a refund, the online account service is down and blaming system failures and they have now “ lost” my online parcel return. Anyone else had bad experiences?

LAvortonDeLaLitière · 17/07/2025 17:41

Ohhh, Me & Em - riding an Instagram wave these days. I bought a pair of trousers from them in the last sales. They are nice, but no more than nice and I wasn’t entirely convinced they were even worth the 50% price tag.
They also massively hike their EU prices which smacks of opportunism.
Hope they come to their senses soon.

ItisIbeserk · 17/07/2025 17:44

I recently had my first ever negative experience with a member of store staff, who have in the past been great. She was sniffy about the size I asked to try on, which is just so unprofessional, and immediately turned me off buying. (And she was wrong.)

IfNot · 17/07/2025 18:01

Omg you absolute bastards I’ve just been in their sale page and found 3 dresses I NEED. One of them is the perfect wedding dress… I might have to get married just so I can wear it.

Rina66 · 17/07/2025 20:23

Totally agree, had this conversation with my daughter this week. Everything in the sale is still available in all sizes, I loved the Iris colour this summer but for the trousers, blouse and little crop jacket it would cost nearly £900 😱 in the sale it’s still £490 and every piece has all the sizes still available. It’s sad, I loved Me & Em when they first came out, I’ve still got little swing dresses from that time that cost about £80 each.

LesLavandes · 18/07/2025 04:04

I have shopped here since it opened. I honestly now can’t spend that sort of money on their clothes.

am looking at a sale dress - £193. Available in all sizes. I would pay £140. Let’s see!
