I'm pale-skinned, cool toned, hair is grey. Any recommendations would be great thanks

Hourglass - colour I crave

Ruby Woo and Russian Red by Mac

I’ve been watching some Trinny Woodall videos on FB and her reds from her brand look fabulous trinnylondon.com/uk/collections/lips

I can recommend a creamy one - Avon Serum Lipstick in Revitalising Rouge. It feels very French and luxurious, despite the price. Also Maybelline Ruby for me.

Dior lipsticks are amazing for quality and staying power but can’t recommend a specific red colour.

Dior 999 is the classic. And it lasts for ages.

I'd second the Revlon reds, there's another nice couple, Cherries in the Snow and Rich Girl Red. At around £5 each, you could get a few and experiment. I wear one called Blushed mostly, a browny pink neutral.

Thank you all for the suggestions

Ruby Woo is very drying. The good thing about Mac though is that they do mini ones, so you can try a couple for less to see what works.

My favourite one is by Chanel - it's really light and hydrating.

Lisa Eldridge if you want to splash out. Revlon Cherries in the Snow if you're on a budget. Revlon and Max Factor do really great lipsticks IMO. Often overlooked because they're not cool, new brands but there's a reason they've stuck around for so long!

Deathraystare · 05/01/2025 18:16

I can recommend Cherries in the Snow - although it is probably better for cool colouring I do like it (I am light and warm). Yes Ruby Woo is drying.

mimiasovitch · 05/01/2025 18:36

Cherries in the snow reads pink on me. I still love it and have several dotted around. My favourite red, (also pale and cool toned) is Chanel Pirate. I also adore Becca in ruby. Now discontinued but you may be able to track one down. I bought three to stash away. I may a lipstick problem .

petedicks · 05/01/2025 19:35

M.a.c RED is the creamier version of Mac Ruby Woo - same colour pretty much.

Lisa Eldridge true velvets are amazing. On my third of Velvet Ribbon.

Above are cool / blue toned lipsticks.

I also have a lipstick problem. I've got that Becca one and it is lovely. I never wear my reds though. I buy them but always end up wearing softer pinks.

I’m the same colouring as you although I’ve gone back to dying my hair. I love MAC Dare You. Apparently it’s the colour Fleabag wears but the makeup team had to recreate it in a more lasting formula as it is very creamy and wears off quickly. I do like Ruby Woo too but it’s very drying.

I haven’t tried the Lisa Eldridge reds but have tried her rose lipsticks and they are gorgeous. Ribbon is supposed to be universally flattering.

Penguinsmum · 05/01/2025 21:04

Mac ruby woo 100 percent

MabelMoo23 · 05/01/2025 22:39

Lisa Eldridge Velvet Ribbon. Without a doubt

tobee · 06/01/2025 18:45

I like Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick - Hollywood Red (Number 540) currently

So strange, I found my one of this only yesterday. It was my favourite lipstick but they stopped making it so I needed to order from Amazon. Just checked and it was 8 years ago. But, yes, the best red. Same colouring as you, OP.

This lipstick also has the loveliest case and way of opening and closing of any I have used.
