Mascara for volume and lift

I’m fed up of trying different mascaras and there’s so much choice out there! I have thin and straight lashes, not too short though. I need more impact and lift and to be able to wear mascara by itself and for it to make a difference to my appearance. I don’t want waterproof and I’d prefer low to mid price purely because they need replacing so often. Can anyone with similar lashes to me help please? Thank you!

I should have added that the only one I’ve bought more than once in recent years is Benefit BadGal Bang but I don’t think it’s been as good lately.

My lashes are similar to yours and I've recently started using Maybelline Skyhigh mascara and the Skyhigh primer. Its made a huge difference to how my lashes look, would definitely recommend.

HippoStraw · 02/01/2025 10:52

Thanks. I tried that and found it a bit dry, but I did get one of the coloured ones so possibly less impactful. Might be worth trying the black.

I use the black one, haven't noticed it being dry.

ForeverinBJ · 02/01/2025 11:07

I use Lancôme hypnose and have done for years
I buy the minis / travel sizes so they don't dry up like normal size ones can

Eldermillennial2024 · 02/01/2025 11:08

I still lime bad gal lash but it's not what it used to be

i like roller lash as well

ToBeOrNotToBee · 02/01/2025 11:09

I love YSL lash clash. Well worth every penny.

namechangeGOT · 02/01/2025 11:09

Was using Panorama by L'Oréal which I thought was good but last week bought L'Oréal's Lash Paradise Primer & mascara and it is unreal!

FlannelandPuce · 02/01/2025 11:17

Lancome mascara is really fab, and doesn't run smudge and washes off easily. However I can't recommend the white lancome cils serum enough. You put it on first and it builds up and thickens eyelashes and it really works. I have been using it for 6 months and have also noticed my natural eyelashes have thickened and are in good condition so it must do something to help build them up. Now is probably a good time to look for the lancome gifts sets to try them out

LivingDeadGirlUK · 02/01/2025 11:28

Benefit Roller lash, you can buy a mini. Curl your lashes first too.

HippoStraw · 02/01/2025 11:43

Thanks for these suggestions. I’ll take a look. That’s reminded me that I did think roller lash was ok back in the day! I haven’t tried those L’Oréal ones though.

Maybelline Sky High

NewDogOwner · 02/01/2025 11:56

I'm enjoying the Charlotte Tilbury one for volume. I curl my lashes so lift isn't a big deal.

HippoStraw · 02/01/2025 12:00

I absolutely should curl first and I always forget!

I used the coloured Sky High today and took some care applying it, and it was much better than I remembered, so the black one might be worth a go. Do you think the L’Oréal Paradise or Panorama is more impactful?

Maybelline Collossal Curl Bounce (the white and yellow one) is also a very good cheaper one - my favourite "drugstore" mascara

OrangeBlossom28 · 02/01/2025 19:12

I love the Panorama mascara and DD1 uses Sky High in the burgundy shade which is beautiful too.

The paradise used with the primer is far more impactful!

Thehouseisatip · 02/01/2025 19:16

My ultimate favourite is Dior. I'm normally a high street make up wearer but the Dior mascara really lifts my stumpy lashes.

HippoStraw · 21/01/2025 19:10

Following up here. I got the L’Oréal Panorama one, and it’s pretty good!

I liked Maybelline Sky High a lot but it does dry out quickly.

Primark 3D lash effect used to be great for the price but I haven’t seen it in my local store for ages.

I moved on from Maybelline to Benefit Roller Lash purely because I got it free in the M&S beauty calendar . It’s brilliant but it is expensive.

I needed a cheap emergency one the other day, so I bought ELF Lash Extender and it’s fab for £7, but I think will flake a bit.

not sure if that helps 😆

Try the paradise one next! The mascara and the primer! It's unbelievable!

BeretRaspberry · 21/01/2025 20:18

I’ve tried loads of higher end ones, including Clinique, YSL, Lancome, Estee Lauder, Benefit etc etc and I always go back to the Sky High.
