SEQUINS! Help a tubby middle aged lady out with a style NY resolution!

Ok, I am 40 and then some, and a size 16 with a matronly chest. I don’t wear anything that clings to my stomach as I’ve had major surgery and have some sensitive scars.

I’ve decided it’s time to start growing old disgracefully and wear more sequins! BUT I am super-sensitive about anything being itchy or scratchy so please, oh wise mumsnetters, share with me your recommendations of comfy sequins that can be worn just because!

Surely nothing’s itchy or scratchy if you wear something between it and your skin? A slip, or a t shirt, for instance?

Check that the sequins are not placed where they would be directly next to the skin and could irritate - neckline, armholes, cuffs etc.

Tassles and fringing is way less scratchy than sequins.

I wore a full on sequin dress tonight from Never Fully Dressed. Their sequin stuff is lined and a really nice weight.

Remember for sequins the issue is likely to be short sleeves. Because then your arm will be rubbing against the sequins on the top/dress. Whereas if it's long sleeved it is encased so it is sequins rubbing against sequins.

Not at all sequinned but M and S ultra thin thermal tops might work underneath sequinned clothing if the inside is too itchy.

I have a lined sequin skirt from Phase Eight last year. There are always plenty around.
