Looking for an evening dress

I need help.... pre kids clothes do not fit and I need something that takes me out of mum of 2.

For a charity ball, doesn't have to be long (have checked), but men in tuxedo, so need to be similarly smart. 5ft 5, size 8. Auburn and pale, so black washes me out.

It is a ball with an evening dress theme, so I am keen to go with that, but I have checked with the wife of a trustee (who invited me) who said that lots of people deviate and it really isn't strict, so I don't think I would be refused entry
