John Lewis clothing sale? Southampton/Swindon?

I have been given a generous amount of vouchers for John Lewis and fancy buying some nice clothes just for me rather than using it for a family food shop at Waitrose as usual! Is it worth going to a real John Lewis? Are the in store sales decent? It’s not somewhere I ever shop as our nearest is a drive away but I’m happy to spend a few hours there. Are there any brands worth looking for? I’d be going to the one in Southampton unless the Swindon outlet is any good? Help!

Make a personal shopper/stylist appointment, which is free and no obligation.
I don't think the Swindon outlet sells clothes. There's a JL in Reading if that's nearer than So'ton.

Southampton is decent, plenty of good brands, nrby is my favourite. I can't cope with the cafe though, too complicated for my simple brain.

Swindon only has furniture and white goods as a general rule, so I would shop elsewhere.

Oh wow I’m glad I asked about Swindon! 🤣
Personal shopping would make me feel under pressure I think - maybe I should consider it?

I think it's better online as there is a much better range.

@Cloudsandsunshineandrain , I asked a colleague how she managed to always look just right clothes-wise, and she said the JL stylist. She said there was no pressure to buy at all.

I find the John Lewis stylists really shit

(you find the cafe confusing?!!)

I think it's better online as there is a much better range.

But you buy things you think will look good not what actually suits you, or you buy more of the same, or you buy separates that don't form an outfit, plus there's the hassle of returning things.

I have used the personal shopping service in Southampton and it was great. I will definitely do it again. They do tend to be booked up for weeks though.

The problem with it is that John Lewis’s clothing is just so incredibly safe and boring, like not my daughter’s jeans and that kind of brand
Even when they do stock other brands, they’re very safe

PoshScouser · 27/12/2024 09:23

@Coalplay ,they stock popular brands. Granted they aren't the top store for fashion but that's not their usual customer's style.
