Is anyone else doing a project pan in 2025?

Project pan (i.e. using up makeup and skincare products you already own)...I've been doing this a while now trying to get my stash down to a more reasonable level. I keep having to remind myself i only have 1 face and resist sales, new product launches etc. I do weirdly get satisfaction every time I fully use up a product. I'm planning to continue in 2025, anyone doing similar?

I only have 1 of each thing & i use it until it's gone & then replace

I got the Elizabeth Arden beauty gift box before Christmas as I had to replace my foundation so now i have a new eye palette, 2 x lipsticks, lip liner, lip gloss + skincare all ready to go.

I am going to treat myself to a new set of brushes tomorrow & perhaps a new make up bag & then I'm all set.

It's the same with shampoo & shower gel etc. I like expensive ones so just buy one type & replace when needed

Now..perfume is a different matter & i have loads & it never ever feels like enough!

I need to do this. I have absolutely LOADS of make up, lotions and potions. Some of it is seriously old, I'm not sure if some of it, the make up especially, should just be binned. I really need to declutter.

@Emanwenym sorry what do you mean? Is this a brand where you buy individual bits? I always struggle to get the colour I want, they never do it individually

Emanwenym · 29/12/2024 15:39

Not a brand @teacoffeeorpassthegin . I have palettes but I rarely wear more than one colour from each one. If you go to somewhere that sells individual eyeshadows, then you only get that. Try Boots No7.

Boots Botanics back in the day made empty palettes, as did Essence.

Soccermumamir · 29/12/2024 15:50

Yeah I always do this. I believe in getting everything out before I bin it lol I cut bottoms off tubes to scrape the contents out. It's surprising how much contents are left in the bottom. I wrap it up in a baby wipe so it doesn't go hard 👍

I've fallen off the wagon already! My skin was looking dreadful... I had a facial. Haven't had one in ages... was starting to break out.

But...technically, this is still 2024 so we haven't officially started, right??

ememem84 · 22/01/2025 16:48

im jumping on.

have a ton of stuff to use up.

today I finished

a sample size primer and a sample size Milton brown perfume.

teacoffeeorpassthegin · 25/01/2025 12:04

I'm quite pleased with how I'm doing! I have bought one lipgloss as I was out and had lost the one which was in my bag. Been finishing up other stuff too.

@Emanwenym the trouble is I can never find a colour exactly the same as the one I like in a pallete. I'm sure they do it on purpose!!
Barry M used to do ones that clicked together but they didn't have them in my Superdrug when I last looked

I know this is a zombie thread but wanted to review. Have been tracking all my empties this year and have finished up a lot of products. Mostly managed to resist extra purchases though did buy a few new skincare items due to changing (older) skin. Have found some products I really like; namely lipglosses: Maybelline Lifter and Rimmel, Rimmel powder and bronzer and weirdly Primark concealer is really good. I seem to always go back to basic brands/products. Also Lidl do excellent dupes of Rituals shower foam and Lush Snow Fairy. My main realisation is that I own way too much eyeshadow but I have been enjoying creating different looks with it. Am going to continue the project into 2026 and focus on rotating my items monthly to try different things. Am allowed to replace mascara as don't want to give myself eye infection. Never need to buy another highlighter or blusher ever again as long as I live 😄

I have been shit!!! Need to do better next year!!!

Emanwenym · 12/12/2025 22:14

Is there a way of filling an empty pan in a palette wth an eyeshadow?

Emanwenym · 12/12/2025 22:18

@dayslikethese1 , I've been good on the buying front but bad at the using up. Thanks for reviving the thread. I think I need to take a carrier bag of half-used stuff to the recycling bin.

dayslikethese1 · 13/12/2025 00:07

I've been using the Boots recycling app Eman for the points but you have to be strategic with it and wait till you need to buy something. I've created a basket of items I want to use this month to make myself focus. I depotted all of my cheaper/slightly rubbish highlighter and gold eyeshadow into one pot; going to just use it as general body/face shimmer in the summer ☀️😁
