Amanda Holden on Mary Berry Christmas

I just watched this - the whole show was a joy but I was struck by how, I’m clear daylight, Amanda was caked in makeup but it wasn’t exacerbating any lines/wrinkles. She looked incredible, if a little overdone for daytime, but it was for TV so ok.

She is 53 - a year older than me - if I wore that much foundation I would look absolutely dreadful - crepey, lined etc. How does she do it? I know she must have Botox/fillers etc, but the texture of her skin was tight and luminous. I need to know her secrets!

She's had lots of work on her face. I guess that makes the difference.

healthybychristmas · 21/12/2024 09:31

I know there has been a lot of hatred towards her but I watched that program with her in Italy renovating a property and really really liked her after that. I know that's nothing to do with anything though!

TheOGCCL · 21/12/2024 09:35

I was looking at her on the Royal Variety and she is awfully plastic. People end up looking like a rough approximation of themselves with that amount of work, in a very artificial way.

Skin wise she’ll.be having all sorts of laser and micro dermabrasion and facials/massage. Profilho maybe,

Haha came here to say this too! I loved that show

Edingril · 21/12/2024 09:36

She seems nice enough but the plastic looks fake

WhoWhereWhatWhy · 21/12/2024 09:41

She looks so different every time I see her. Not in a progressive way either. I barely recognised her when she was on the one show with Alan Carr and the cast of The Split. She knows what she’s doing though, she’s canny and doesn’t take herself too seriously. I like her.

mmm yes maybe Profilho although I’ve read mixed reviews about efficacy/longevity plus it’s very pricey. But it may diminish that crepey look - may have to investigate.

Also think I need to rethink my foundation - I only use a CC cream from erborian mixed 50% with sunscreen so it gives hardly any coverage. But think I need to up my game. It’s so difficult in 50s to find the balance between looking fresh and healthy and overdone/caked.

The erborian stuff is amazing.

I'd put your sunscreen on first the erborian to get the best look.

Bobbi Brown skin tint is fantastic. I wore that plus the nude finish illuminating powder for my wedding recently (mid 40s) and it looked amazing. Like me but better.

I'm 53 and don't have wrinkles and haven't had any Botox or anything else so makeup sits well on my skin

Arraminta · 21/12/2024 12:05

I won't hear a word against Amanda Holden. Recently shared a coffee and a chat with her at Pisa airport and she was absolutely lovely.

Aww how lovely. She always has struck me as very down to earth - I love her with Alan Carr.

Is her skin as glorious in real life?

Yes, she was heavily made up but skin completely smooth. Like a pearl.

EllaPaella · 21/12/2024 16:01

I've seen her in real life as well and agree she js stunning.

Pyjamatimenow · 21/12/2024 16:08

Looks odd to me

GettingStuffed · 21/12/2024 17:14

She also has a professional makeup artist and that makes a huge difference

Her secret? Time, money, lots of non surgical and surgical cosmetic procedures!

Smug git 😉😁
Wish I could say the same! I had threads done and I'm 53 and still look knackered!

I’m not sure she has that much time - she works like a Trojan!! She’s up at the crack of dawn every day for her radio show and then has so many other TV presenting jobs/collabs/qvc/guest appearances.

RampantIvy · 23/12/2024 06:53

Her face looks like it has had a lot of work.

I thought she came across well in the programme though.
