Please help me start styling my hair!

I’ve never really taken care of my hair or styled it properly. I use the cheapest shampoo and conditioner I can find in the supermarket, wash it 2 or 3 times a week, blast dry it with an old hairdryer and then use a straightener to straighten the top and curl the ends. It’s very long and in awful condition, probably due to all of the above 🫣

I really want to start taking more care and looking after my hair more but have no clue where to start! What products should I use? A heat protectant? Hair spray? I’ve seen the Dyson Airwrap which looks good but very expensive, should I look for a cheaper option of this sort of thing? What should I look for in a shampoo and conditioner?

My hair is naturally curly I think, if that’s makes a difference, but I’m not sold on embracing the natural curls, prefer the sleeker type of curls you get with tongs.

As you can see I have no clue, so any advice would be very much appreciated! Thank you :-) x

I'd start with a haircut to get some of the damaged ends cut off. Your hair will be so much easier to take care of and style if it's healthy. You can then see what products and styling tools the hairdresser uses on your hair. I've got similar hair and find morrocanoil treatment, frizz ease serum and tigi shampoo and conditioner work well for me but you may find different wonder products help you. I've got a parlux hairdryer and I'd recommend that too.

There are hairdressers who specialise in curly hair who can probably help you obtain sleek smooth curls. Probably worth a Google.
