Jeans for the plump of tummy?

ApolloandDaphne · 19/12/2024 11:58

I need some new jeans. I have lost 1.5 stones and my size 18 and 16 jeans are getting too big. I've just been to try some on and none of the 16's will do up over my flabby tum. Size 18's are massive. I would like wide leg ones if possible. I am age 62 if that makes a difference. I don't have a huge range of shops in my town but i will be in Leeds on Monday and could look. Any clue to where I can go to buy flattering jeans (or cords)? I don't like shopping for clothes online so only actual stores. Thanks.

I find that Next jeans fit well, they've got some nice wide leg ones in too.

Christmasmuppet · 19/12/2024 12:05

I second next

ApolloandDaphne · 19/12/2024 12:11

I haven't tried Next so i will put them on my list.

I actually got lovely wide leg jeans from Sainsbury's Tu online and they were only £20.

Loveautumnhatewinter · 19/12/2024 12:19

I would recommend the Levi shop - there’ll be one in Leeds. Staff are always really helpful and if you tell them what you want your jeans to achieve, they’ll recommend the right ones.

ApolloandDaphne · 19/12/2024 12:21

I usually avoid places like Levi because i don't understand the sizing. Maybe i need to be brave!

Levis Rib Cage jeans. I am a 12 but with a large tummy. They are expensive but worth it.

beetr00 · 19/12/2024 12:25

other options @ApolloandDaphne

Marks & Spencer

ApolloandDaphne · 19/12/2024 12:28

I tried some in Marks last week but if I'm honest i didn't have time to search through all the styles properly. I can look again.

Similar shape here and I like the high waisted Marks & Sparks ones. Also Not Your Daughters Jeans - pricey but they fit so well. Mainly buy them online but have seen them in John Lewis too

Lentilweaver · 19/12/2024 12:32

Used to like M and S high waisted until I tried Levis Rib Cage. Never going back!

SnapdragonToadflax · 19/12/2024 12:43

I am larger of tummy (trousers are often too big on the bum and legs if they fit my waist) and I mostly wear Next and Tu jeans. I find M&S very small on the waist.

This is my issue. I actually have quite narrow thighs. It's like they need to add extra material all over rather than just in the tummy area. They look like old men's trousers on me often.

I also have slim hips, bum and thighs but a belly and I'm a size 16ish. I find that I need jeans that are higher waisted and, ideally, have a little bit of stretch in them - so it's less about the store and more about the style.

I have M&S wide legged high waisted jeans currently which are great. I have previously had excellent results with the Next firming ones in the high waisted styles.

TheOGCCL · 19/12/2024 17:24

Levis staff are really helpful if you ask

Cantonet · 20/12/2024 16:15

M&S wide leg cords fit me nicely & I'm a very similar shape. The jeans appear to have very variable sizing & this year the waist seems to be smaller.

shellyleppard · 20/12/2024 16:20

Yours clothing is good

Moversnotshakers · 20/12/2024 18:17

2nd vote for yours clothing. Downsize as they are quite stretchy but the waistband at the back (inside) has elastic. Good quality for under £30

dinghymum · 20/12/2024 21:47

I find the Seasalt jeans fit well ( and I have a big tummy following weight loss).

AnOceanOfVioletsInBloom · 20/12/2024 22:15

Another vote for Levi's, just tell the staff what style you like and they usually go straight to them and get your correct size. They will alter the leg length if necessary too, depending on how busy they are that might be twenty minutes or they might say come back in an hour.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 20/12/2024 22:37

Another vote for Tu @ Sainsbury's.
I am mid 50s, size 16, tubby of tummy and their jeans always fit me brilliantly. They tend to keep up with jeans-shape trends pretty well too.

ApolloandDaphne · 24/12/2024 15:06

If anyone is interested I got a pair of Levi's. I think the style was flare. They were half price so I am very happy!

I did say Levis, didnt I? 😁 I have them in wide leg and straight. They have washed well too.

You did indeed. I explained what I wanted and the sales assistant gave me just the one pair of jeans and they were perfect!

I love my New Look Adalae wide legged jeans. Nice and high waisted and suit my menopausally challenged figure!
Might be abit long though if you are below average height.
