I have been been going to a back street hairdresser for a number of years.
Mainly because of finance. I'm now in the position to pay more.
My haircut is only last 3 weeks.
It's above my ears, Hair is very fine.
Should I try a dearer hairdresser.

I did think it was bit fishy!

Dosomethingusefulnow · 17/12/2024 19:16

Im not sure what you mean, a more expensive cut won't grow any slower or do you mean as it grows it loses its shape too much?

KirstenBlest · 17/12/2024 19:19

Have you considered a mullet?

LifeisNOTlikeemmerdalefarm · 17/12/2024 19:28

@Dosomethingusefulnow yes it looses it shape quickly.
Today is the 17th December I last had it cut 1st December.
I can't afford to get it cut every couple of weeks.
My hair is very fine and very very straight.
Hense it being cut above my ears.

Giggles at the thought of Hake with ears, sorry! I'm guessing that you have short hair. Short hair does tend to need regular cuts to keep it looking it's best. Mine is to quote a very rude hairdresser "disjointed" and needs cutting every four weeks along with a bleach and toner to keep the style and colour how it want it. Unfortunately due to price increases this is now too expensive. Try a few different salons and see which one you prefer, not all are equal. I have been to fancy salons where they didnt have a clue how to cut my hair, others who refused to use scalp bleach and others who insist on wafting a dryer over my head for 30 seconds and charging me for a blow dry. My most recent stylist in a very small village salon who did a very good job has just returned from maternity leave and is changing career so I am back to looking for someone new again. Be very insistent about how you want it cutting.

@LifeisNOTlikeemmerdalefarm
I was just thinking WTF is a hake cut!!!

Patienceinshortsupply · 17/12/2024 20:01

I've got very short hair, go to a high end hairdresser (well as high end as the county allows Grin) and have mine cut every 6 weeks. Anything past that, I'm in trouble! I went last week and it's £82 for a cut/blow dry.

Gasp! £33 for me for the same today! Mind you, it’s oop north

LifeisNOTlikeemmerdalefarm · 17/12/2024 20:29

Maybe I'm going to cheap as it's only £20 for a cut.
Or she might have become complacent.
Can't afford to get it done every 17 days.
It actually should have been cut last week in which
case that would make it 12 days.

We live in a very small town there are only 5 hairdressers.
I am prepared to travel to the next large town 10 miles away.

Don't know what to do

🤣

KirstenBlest · 17/12/2024 20:33

Find someone with hair like yours and ask them who cuts it for them.

TorturedParentsDepartment · 17/12/2024 20:35

A month when it was really short; I can go slightly longer between now it's growing again. I just have hair and nails that grow really fast (I get about a fortnight between infills on my nails as well - cos they grow fast but they're piss weak from decades of biting) - not much I can do about that.

mdinbc · 17/12/2024 21:07

If you have very short, as in a boy cut with no colour, then try a barber shop. Much cheaper, and no booking ahead.

I pay £47 every 5 weeks. I’m actually only happy with it for the first 3 weeks, but leave it the extra 2 even though it’s past its best, because it’s so expensive.

I have short hair, above my ears, and get it cut every 8 weeks.

KirstenBlest · 18/12/2024 10:53

You could get some spikes.

This ^^ - go to a barbers OP

DreadPirateRobots · 18/12/2024 14:27

What's that got to do with the price of fish?

...Sorry.

I have a very short cut and I would ideally get it done every 6 weeks. In practice it's more like 8. The payoff is that I spend very little time and money on styling, brushing, or drying.

Wetcappuccino · 18/12/2024 14:33

I have a very short pixie cut. Mine grows fastest round my ears and nape of the neck. I have a cut and blow dry every 6-8 weeks. I also pop into the hairdresser at the halfway point (3-4 weeks) and she “tidies up” round my ears/ neck with the clippers (dry cut) and only takes a fiver for that. It allows me to push my appointments out - otherwise it would be every 4 weeks.

KirstenBlest · 18/12/2024 16:02

I can't believe salmon would carp on about the price of a hake cut. Sounds like a load of cod, but I guess this is the plaice to do it.
