Proven treatments for natural peeling nails

How can I get strong and non peeling nails???? What are your proven treatments please?
please see my picture, but I’m sick of getting a tiny bit of length on a nail only for it to do this. Resulting in a thin bendy nail. It happens every single time, on both index fingers and my thumb.
I take biotin daily, eat nutritiously, am well hydrated, use solar oil occasionally and sometimes use a regular (not gel polish).
I’d like to hear some success stories if anyone has any!

I've recently been trying Repair Mode. It's pretty pricey but guarantees stronger/less peeling nails in just six days. So far it's working well for me.

Intensiv14 · 15/12/2024 17:10

Thanks! Just googled that and I’d be prepared to spend £20 to try to stop this.

My nails are transformed since I started taking zinc and folic acid.

Fireworknight · 15/12/2024 17:15

I have adcal (calcium and vitamin d tablets) from gp due to osteoporosis. When I take them regularly, I notice a real difference in my cauls.

Elsewhere, I’ve heard that having a couple of jelly beans a day helps.

Your nails look worse than mine, but mine also tend to de-laminate and have the top layer lift off. I use a cuticle oil over the whole nail. I think you're supposed to massage it into the cuticle and then wipe it off but what I do is put a couple of drops onto a Q-tip and rub that over the whole nail and then just let it air dry (two drops will do one hand). I do it before bed a couple of times a week, or more frequently if my nails are giving me trouble. The brand I'm using is Kohana Paradise but I think any cuticle oil would probably help. I keep my nails short to try and protect them. I'm careful about what soap I use and I never hand wash dishes without gloves, although that's more because it gives me dermatitis but it also dries out my nails.

Does anyone know if Nailtiques is still around ? Their formula 2 was amazing

Caterpillargirl23 · 15/12/2024 18:37

I agree with @Fireworknight , my nails have improved since taking adcal. Hopefullly my bones as well.

IBX, all day long. This is what it was designed for. It's a salon only treatment and you'll need to have it maybe omce a month till the split grows out and every few months to maintain but it is absolutely worth it.

Sleepflower43 · 15/12/2024 18:48

OPI Repair Mode has worked well for me. Used to use Nailtiques 2 but found the OPI better.

Mine are much better for taking biotin

Intensiv14 · 20/12/2024 15:16

Just got these two, to try and help. Fingers crossed! I’ll update the thread if they work.

Are you going to use one on right hand and one on left to compare? That would be very interesting.

I also take extra biotin and it's helping very slightly but not enough.

EmotionalSupportBiscuit · 20/12/2024 15:38

I use the Opi Repair Mode after a bit of peeling and it’s sorted them right out. I still use it for maintenance about once a week or when I remember

Yes that would’ve been good, but Both right and left are peeled now ☹️, plus my right thumb, seen to be the worst ones.

I’ve been taking biotin for 3 months now and had some hair regrowth around temples and front, which is good, but it’s fine nothing for my nails.

3 days in, twice a day using the Repair pro now. there’s been a bit of the low loose peel from index fingers come off. I do feel something when I apply it. I’m going to use nail oil today as they’re a bit sore and dry. Right hand index finger has grown a bit.

These might help. But check out the rest of her channel. Her advice transformed my nails!

Update - The experiment continues…, I used the repair solution for 6 days, and the large peel is growing out of both nails.
I have trimmed them a bit as it’s weaker and bendy as it grows.
These are natural nails with oil on them, so they look a bit better than just ‘dry’. I think they’re feeling stronger though.
i think the next couple of weeks will be key to see if I can get any length on them. Fingers crossed!
My left index finger nail broke after I bashed it cleaning, rather than a peel.
