It's a bit sack-like. Sorry.

MyOtherProfile · 14/12/2024 08:25

It doesn't look like a party dress for me. It looks a bit old lady. But I'm probably quite out of touch with fashion.

Dearg · 14/12/2024 08:28

If that’s you in the picture, you are gorgeous and that dress does nothing for you.

That said, if you feel good in it, wear it, as there’s nothing quite as attractive as happy confidence.

Talipesmum · 14/12/2024 08:29

I like it!

TheCalmQuail · 14/12/2024 08:30

I think it's really pretty, festive without being cliche. Needs heels to avoid being frumpy. The boots Dunnes have accessorised look bloody awful.

TheChosenTwo · 14/12/2024 08:30

I think a bit drab, sorry 😞
combination of the colour and the shape.
I don’t think a long dress is at all inappropriate for a party, quite the opposite in fact, but I think the dress looks a little sad.

Arrivederla · 14/12/2024 08:31

I came on to say a bit 'sack like' too.

Can you give us a bit more idea of what sort of thing you like? Plus size, colouring, budget etc. I'm sure posters on here can find something better for you!

Idunno8 · 14/12/2024 08:32

If you like it and you will feel like yourself in it and comfortable, who cares what anyone else thinks!
I wore a dress I pretty much hated to a wedding once and I was pulling at it, all day and night. I wore it because everyone said how lovely I looked in it, but all the pictures show how uncomfortable I was. So not worth it at all!
Go with your gut!

Well the op obviously isn't happy and confident in the dress or she wouldn't have posted on here!

Divebar2021 · 14/12/2024 08:35

What’s happened to the models other hand?

TheOGCCL · 14/12/2024 08:58

I like the fabric which that particular photo doesn’t show well.

Did you show your friend the actual dress or an online link? I think this is a dress that may look a lot better in person, particularly if your figure gives some shape to it. It looks too big for the model.

I like the top half but do agree it goes a bit shapeless after the waist, but really depends on your figure, also what shoes.

It's a screenshot from the website

Dunn's dress

I don't like the dress but it's appropriate for the event. Although having said I don't like it, if I were in a situation where my luggage had gone missing and this was the only option available , I'd be happy to wear it. That's a bit of a back handed compliment but there's loads of dress suggestions on MN I'd refuse to leave the house in.

Maybluebell · 14/12/2024 10:57

Thanks everyone, ive decided not to wear it, its a tad big too which adds to the sack likeness of it, id much prefer it if it was shorter but no way have the skills yo alter it. Back to the shops today to have a nosey

The dress has pockets so im guessing the models had is in the pocket, doesn't make it very clear and the pockets make the dress sit out a bit too

I think the cut is somewhat unflattering, but if you like the metallic/plisse effect Maje has quite a few in a similar fabric but with a nicer silhouette -

See, it's all so subjective. To me this looks like a panto dame with all the ruffles. Much prefer the simplicity of OPs, but yes it's needs to fit well to work
