Oh god help - suit for January wedding??

I have a wedding to go to in January. It's in a fancy venue and I think quite formal. My very young daughter is a bridesmaid so is suspect I might end up in some photos, unfortunately.

I am late 30s, currently a size 14-16 with huge boobs and a big tummy. Not thrilled about it but not much time to do much to fix it before then.

At the last wedding I went to, the coolest looking women there was wearing (non matching) trousers and jacket with brogues. She looked absolutely awesome. But she is also young, slim, very beautiful and confident.

I have been doing my usual panic buying of multiple "wedding guest" dresses online and hating all of them when I try then on - feeling frumpy and huge. Would it be ok to wear trousers and a jacket?? Thing is, I've totally lost my way with clothes and have absolutely zero idea what's "cool" (wide leg? Silk? Straight? I absolutely can't wear high waisted trousers and have zero idea for jacket shape either). And I also have no clue where to shop. Budget would be mid range I guess? I normally shop in places like John Lewis, Baukjen, etc. In the sales if possible!

Any advice would be massively gratefully received.

I've just had a quick look at John Lewis, and see a Metallic Jacquard jacket. I wouldn't necessarily do a whole suit, but this jacket would look nice with black trousers,

They have quite a few velvet suits as well, which would be nice.
