Little winter beauty must haves/treats

Thought this might be a nice, uplifting thread as we are approaching Xmas and it's getting colder.
Doesn't need to be expensive (better if it isn't in my opinion as out of reach on my salary!)
I like:

Pawpaw lip balm
Working Hands hand cream
Sweet almond oil - great for dry cuticles and dry skin in general
Eau Dynamisante spray - great energy boost
Any kind of deep conditioninghair mask

What are yours?

My must have winter treats are quite spending I’m afraid - but worth every penny!

Aromatherapy Associates Deep relaxing bath oil - nothing better than a super hot bath with a couple of drops of this in, a candle burning and the bathroom lights off. Perfect on the coldest night after a draining day’s work.

Loccitane Almond Shower gel for the morning - sooo rich and indulgent. I would barely need body lotion afterwards it’s so rich but then I love the ritual of a thick body lotion like L’occitane Shea or Neom.

by Killian Angels Share perfume - absolutely divine on the coldest darkest mornings.

For the thickest face cream to nourish, I love Weleda Skin Food Rich. The herbal smell is also very comforting. I slather my face, neck and hands with it every bedtime.

Soothing leg and foot balm by Made for life in Cornwall. Heaven. I put it on before bed and the next morning everything is lovely and soft.

Frieda2024 · 13/12/2024 06:17

Ooh, these are great, thanks. I love l’Occitane and don’t really mind spending on beauty products for the feel good effect and quality but feel like I should pare back due to CoL, I suppose. But as you say a little goes a long way with a lot of these products. Love the bath suggestion. Another suggestion, I have a Neom essential oil for my diffuser so even in winter, the house can smell all summery (or whatever you choose) which is a lovely boost. 😊

I've just bought a hand cream bar for £8 from The Edinburgh Natural Skin Care Co. It smells amazing and is more of a balm which soothes cold chapped hands. It comes in a gorgeous little tin as well.
I am super thrilled with it!

JMAngel1 · 13/12/2024 07:49

@FannyFernackerpants just checked out their website. Looks gorgeous. Which scent hand cream bar did you get? Would love something like that on my desk at work to soothe not just my hands but frazzled soul (!) throughout the day.

It's in a red tin, think it's called Reverie!

TokyoSushi · 13/12/2024 13:26

Oh that looks lovely @FannyFernackerpants - how do you use it?

Ooh, I've just ordered hyaluronic acid for my face as it was getting a bit ruddy with the central heating on. And retinol for my neck. Also my magnesium arrived today , I started getting leg cramps. I have over 200 items from gift boxes and presents over the years in a huge tub in the airing cupboard, it's like a bran tub or lucky dip as to what you will pull out. I don't think I will need toiletries again this lifetime.

I’ve been bought some Neals Yard honey bath and shower foam which I’m liking but am also liking Radox Grapefruit and Ginger shower gel, Primark Birthday Cake body scrub and a Sukin face scrub.

I’ve also been using up Soap and Glory Sugar crush body butter/cream and using up hand creams and lip balms for dry lips and hands. Vardo is one brand but I do use others like Oilatum.

Use the retinol on your face too. Unless you already use tret on your face. Don’t forget to moisturise after retinol.

Oh thank you, I thought it was a moistureizer I will do that from tomorrow

@Doggymummar sunscreen with your retinol too-it makes skin super sensitive to UV even in our gloomy winter

lemonlavendar · 14/12/2024 10:46

Was gifted a gorgeous balm and have totally fallen in love with it. A real treat.
I've since ordered as gifts for friends for Christmas.
Very reasonable.

Sorry for the late reply, you just rub it in your hands like soap really.

To be fair I knew about SPF but until I read about it here or online I had no idea you had to use retinol with moisturiser on top. I’m sure it doesn’t say this on the bottle (The Ordinary).

AMiddleClassWomanOfACertainAge · 14/12/2024 11:39

@Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain The Ordinary (from memory) do a guide on their site as how to layer and what order to use products. Might be worth a look

WarriorN · 14/12/2024 11:56

Geek and gorgeous happier barrier is my new discovery that helps with winter and retinol 🌟
